I love the live versions too. That was a song he had a lot of fun with live.

Black Sweat is a masterpiece of modern funk!

Fun song; I would LOVE an extended version with some guitar.

Really love the bass parts in the chorus.

Would any of ya'll consider "Black Sweat" a part of the "Minneapolis Sound" Prince pioneered, or like an extension of it? I prefer the production values on this compared to a LOT of the songs on MPLSound

This song gave me chills and made me listen to it about 6 times in a row.

I could not BELIEVE the soudn that was coming into my ears when I heard this...I was giving up on P after Muscology album (even tho the concert was OUTSTANDING), because Musicology was very mish-mash of all types of sounds and did not go together.

This I was suprised and taken aback by. How come this sound was not reflected on Mplsound I DONT KNOW. Unless it was a vault take. The falcetto and the Linn Drums are dirty and funky!

I don't like the song much. It hurts my ears with all those squealing noises, but I do like the picture on the single:

I loved the stripped down, electric funk sound of this song.

I think Prince was defitnitely going back in the right direction with this song. To me it sounds as good as the stuff he did in the 80's.

3121 is one of my absolute favorites of the past 5 years or so. SO funky.

great ballsy thumpin funky track, enigmatic simplicity, cheeky vocals, with only just a tad of over-all spirit-zing missing from the mix.

4 stars

one of his modern gems, would have been hailed as a classic if released from the parade or SOTT albums.

Don't get the big deal over this song, I love 70% of Prince's music from the last decade but black sweat is just annoying. That high pitched synth is just a horrible distracting noise! Gave it a few tries, but it's just not for me!

I like Black Sweat. I think it will go down as a lesser known Prince classic in time. It's one of the few songs he did over the last decade that I've heard anyone who wasn't a Prince fan talk about.
