12" Singles

A lot of Prince's singles are being released as Digital 45s, and Rhino.com has even the 12" of "Raspberry Beret" which is great to get the 12" version of the b-sides "Hello" and "She's Always In My Hair".

I'm hoping to find the 12" of "Another Lonely Christmas" in CD quality or the closest thing to it.

Now, YES, I know the edited 7" version was on "The Hits/The B-Sides", that's not the version I want. I found the new re-released 12" of "I Would Die 4 U" on Vinyl, I'm cool with Vinyl because I have a premium turntable. However, I bought this from Rhino in the U.K. and guess what? They put the Edited version on the b-side. Sigh.

I know I can find the old 80s version of the vinyl, but I was the best possible sound vs the old crackily sound. Anyone know where I can find a sealed version of "Another Lonely Christmas - 12" Extended"?? Did they ever make one of those Import singles of it? Like the 3" Japan Single? THANKS!

There's no official CD release of the non-edited version of Another Lonely Christmas. There are excellent transfers of the US Mix on bootlegs such as T's 12" Archive and Foefur's Purple Rain Remastered & Expanded.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

They didn't. That was disappointing, it was about 96/7 right, and I remember them all being listed and going drool - then nothing. pout

I picked up the digital 45 of "Kiss" as it had a digital copy of "Love or $"... it was the edited version of course, but it was still a nice, clean copy of the song. I don't think that was ever released in a digital form before, though I could be wrong.

I LOVE the fact they include the "digital booklets"... Kiss had the single's front and back cover as well as the 7" label's front and back. I know that info is available out on the web, but it is slick having it as a nice little PDF booklet to go along with the track.

I hope iTunes keeps this up. I think the Time has a digital 45 as well... it would be great to get tracks like "Tricky" or "Grace" in some format that wasn't transferred from a record.

But I concure w/ squirrelgrease... track down T's excellent compilation of 12" mixes.

Actually, I recommend downloading the Digital songs by Prince from RHINO. You can buy them in Apple Lossless or FLAC! AND, they even have the 12" of Raspberry Beret with the 12" of "Hello" as well. It'll show a high cost if you buy it as an album, but scroll down and click download song... it's cheap when you scroll down. Not sure why, but it is. If you prefer MP3s over Apple Lossless, they're 320kbps, vs. Apple's low-quality MP3s. Places like 7Digital and Rhino are far better for high quality downloads than iTunes... and iTunes STILL downloads in AAC... Sure you can convert it without the annoying DRM, but just look to the sites I mentioned for higher quality.

WOW... I had no idea you could do this from Rhino. Yeah, I am not crazy about anything other than lossless myself, so I thought I was stuck w/ 256 version of "Love or $". This is great stuff... off to Rhino I go. Thanks for the tip!

EDIT - OK, links to Rhino's store for the cool kids. Rhino should get huge props for doing this... it would be great to let them know we'd like to see other 80s era 12" released in lossless digital format.

Dodgers1970... did I miss any? This was all I could find.

Kiss 7" w/ B-side in Lossless from Rhino Records: http://www.rhino.com/shop...digital-45

Kiss 12" w/ B-side... doesn't looks like they have uploaded it yet, but there appears to be a placeholder so here's hoping: http://www.rhino.com/shop...rince-kiss

Raspberry Beret 12" w/ B-side in Lossless from Rhino Records: http://www.rhino.com/shop...erry-beret
