Unreleased tracks mentioned in other songs So I was reading the God thread and got to thinking about the fact that the lyrics mention the Dance Electric, a song Prince never released himself.
We all know he mentions other tracks now and again, but are there any other instances of him naming unreleased tracks in other songs? PFUnk mentions the Grand Progression Hot Thing mentions CRystal Ball (that went unreleased for a long time) Joy in Repetition mentions Soul Psychodelicide. Any more instances you can think of? these are released... International Lover mentions Diamonds & Pearls Scandalous mentions Come My Name Is Prince mentions The Truth but "Unreleased": I can't come up with any then.... Those are just words, not necessarily a mention of a song, per se. The "Hot Thing" reference is a good one because we know the story of Crystal Ball - SOTT whittling down. We know that idea was on Prince's mind at the time, and that's why it's in the song. I think even "International Lover" wasn't an intentional nod to a future song, as it was nowhere near to being written or in Prince's mind. | |

"Batdance" mentioned "The Future", "Electric Chair", and "Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic", and possibly "Power" or whatever that track was called. "200 Balloons" is throughout that stuff too. | |
