That's what I thought. So using it as an example of a good fight song doesn't really make sense since that wasn't Queen's original intention. They may very well of hated that it became a sports anthem. Prince's intent, on the other hand, seems to have been to make a song that was a fitting sports anthem. At least I think that's what he was trying to do. You'd never guess that from the lyrics or music, though!

After hearing the full version, I think it could have used a bombastic guitar solo, but all-in-all, as 4 what it was intended 4, it works.

I think with a change in the drums, and an anthemic guitar solo, it would rock.

in fact, stupid bitch melissa wouldn't stop talking while it was playing, she simply could NOT keep her mouth shut. so, i still don't know what the song sounds like. from what i heard it sounded okay to me though

Whats more, it strengthens my belief that the "Prince" we all desperately miss is still here (not that i thought otherwise and nor am i trapped in 84)! It's challenging, it's the opposite to all the other football songs by other singers and what not, its got us in a whirl (despite it not being for us), it's still him doing WHATEVER he wants and thus scoring pointless controversy.

I think this long version is allready a lot better then the snippet we heard.

Its not my type of music, still very corny, but i can see what he was trying to achieve.

My main complaint: the plastic / cheap sounding instrumentation, in that way it reminds me of The arms of orion: songs like these need a BIG arrangement (big orchestra, marching band, choirs) to go for full KITSCH-effect... lol

This would have worked a lot better in a 'Graffiti Bridge' type of arrangement.
