Who cares. It's nice Prince has videos, but if he's not released them, takes them off YouTube, and we're stuck with crappy AVIs or old *.rm files, it doesn't really matter.

Most of his videos are performance videos. All of the 1999 videos are basically the same look. The ones that stand out as unique in some other way are:
Raspberry Beret (animation and coloring)
When Doves Cry (because of the imagery beyond the movie stuff)
Batdance & Partyman (Cuz...well....we know)
Diamonds and Pearls (beauty of it)
The Holy River (imagery)
Te Amo Corazon (imagery)

and any live clip.

Anything else is just a performance video, and not that exciting per se.

Let's not include those silly things like "3 Chains O Gold", nor concert DVDs, just promotional videos, and then ask who has the most RELEASED videos? Madonna might very well give him a run for the money. George Michael as well, including his Wham! material.

I didn't even comment on that thread, because i thought i knew how it would turn out.

zappa did tons of work with video. there just wasnt a mtv in the 70's to show it. 200 motels, baby snakes (which has some amazing stop motion animation segments by Bruce Bickford), the dub room special. some of zappas video work may seem amateur in some ways now, but only because of the technology available at the time. but for the most part the average person just didnt get zappas visual work. it was hard enough for most people to wrap their heads around his music!

Having seen more of Prince's videos lately, I can say that having more of them is not necessarily a good thing. Never has been his strong suit.

But on the flip side, being "more prolific" than Prince doesn't make Zappa better either.

Zappa & Prince are both great, it's not a competition.

David Bowie. A creature designed for the big screen with his chameleon like changes and phases. Was incredibly prolific for about 15 years (1970-1985).
