Anyway, the story really does say more about this "Angela's" perception of how gay men are than it does about gay men. But that's actually the core point, I think, when people want to claim Prince is gay, or not, based solely on his appearences. Everytime I hear the statement that feminine characteristics equals homosexuality I throw up in my mouth and think to myself: "Man, you need to get out there and meet some people, face the real world". Loads of people aren't gay even though they don't look like Bruce Springsteen and look more like Prince (and loads of people are gay, looking like Bruce Springsteen and nothing like Prince). I have a handful of gay friends, and what will strike most people about most of them, is that there's "real world gay" and then there's "eccentric tv-gay". Either is fine by me, but "tv-gay" is not really a uniform or a code of conduct that most gay men adopt. There's no natural law that makes the color pink equal to sitting on sticks. And when there's no such law, there's no logic in concluding that the clothes Prince wear says anything about who he falls in love with. Anywho, this all obvious statements, one should think. I can not say that Prince is definitely gay or that he definitely isn't. All I'm saying is that nobody can, at least not on the boring concept of apprearance. It's like thinking men in leather jackets must be into S/M. very nice. 
But seriously how can this still be a discussion? I mean, are people talking about Prince and his flamboyance (which some seem to think equals gay)? Or are people really just taking a dump online.. squeezing in their crowbar-opinion on everything "gay"? | |

Now If you want me to see it your way. This is not the way. I wanted to know why does some of the gay orgers (im not trying to offend anyone) think that Prince is gay and what are some charateristics that you'd think he's gay? What would make you think he's gay? Because the way he dress, cause if I heard or saw some offensive words. Seems to me a straight man when he's singing (Prince) can't make hand gesture saying his making fun of the gay community. Which he was not.. I think this thread is very informative. Because it really brings out the real sides of each person Straight or Gay. Think of it as helping the other person to see how people of other Sexual Orientation think. Whatever it is that "straight men don't want to" .. I think is the root of the whole "Prince is gay / Prince is not gay" and frankly, the answer to the original post. The only way one can keep discussing the sexuality of Prince 30 years later, despite there's nothing more to it than what Prince has stated on the matter (and even if one likes to think that his statement perhaps isn't the entire truth, at least one must admit, that unless Prince is banging you, the discussion won't matter much), is to clinge to the notion of what "real straight men" are and act like. As long as there's such strict ideas of what dress code and what manners "real straight men" should follow like law and rules, and as long as Prince keeps breaking every one of those "real straight men" dogmas by looking like a powder queen at times.. people will question his sexuality.
