I really loved being in the theatre for the opening night of "Musicology." Of course it was better live, however, it was fun to be a part of the first night. cool

I'd say Prince at the Superbowl. It was perfect, except for about 10 minutes befreo he went on, I managed to bang my toe into the door running for a seat. I insisted on going to the hospital AFTER Prince went on.

I had a sprained toe. lol

Damn, that's the only time I've injured myself running behind Prince! LOL!

Super Bowl, no doubt! "Purple Rain" in the rain, with millions of people around the world watching? The performance and atmosphere was magic.

He made me proud to be a fan that day. touchedlol

Nightcrawler

My personal highlights:

2001: Release of "The Rainbow Children", his best album in years. He restored my faith in his music with this release.

2002: One Nite Alone Tour with the possibility to witness the soundcheck. Fantastic concert!

2003: Release of his first live CD "One Nite Alone...live!". Loved it!

2007: 21 Nights in London

Great list Nightcrawler. So many highlights from 2000- 2009. Whomever thinks Prince has lost it is nuts. Without a major label behind him, he has had success after success. Let's hope the next decade can be as great. His most impressive moment, IMHO, was The Superbowl performance followed closely by The Brits which was equally mind blowing. His greatest success was probably the high grossing U.S. Musicology tour.

2004 Grammy performance with Beyonce. I say that only because he showed the masses he was still a kick-ass performer.

Each of those events are noteworthy in different ways. The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction was a major recognition that honored his whole career, The Super Bowl performance gave him a massive TV audience and the 21 Nights in London showed that he's still very commercial. But I would say the 21 Nights was his best moment, because it was specifically related to this decade and because it showed how many people that wanted to go and see him.

It's all good. Whatever you feel was best. As I said, "He has so many great events, moments..." 3121 Vegas was definitely one of them. cool

I think his performance of FURY on SNL was monumental, and for me, ranks as one of his best TV moments

* He absolutely killed the song
* He reminded everyone that he could really play guitar
* His presence was perfect in that he was not over the top visually, detracting from the music. He just looked cool as all hell.

Honorable...

Super Bowl Performance - if only his guitar did not cut out at the end of PR.
Grammy's - sort of got the whole comeback thing rolling
Leno - Somewhere Here ... - Master performance that displayed his versatility after playing Dreamer the night before.
RRHOF - While My Guitar.. - Once again a historic performance that has been allowed to remain on Youtube exposing his talents to new fans.

All in all, a great decade for live performances.

there were many, especially a lot of his tv performances were
brilliant, like "fury" or "reflection" etc.

the superbowl was cool enough, i also think opening montreux
with "when eye lay my hands on u" was very cool.

a few great albums and some insanely good tracks.

but the award for best 'moment' of the decade goes by a long
stretch to the "One Nite Alone Tour". omg was that brilliant
or what?

a few dozen carreer highlight performances, lots of top shows,
lots of rare song selections performed.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Prince really kicked Ayes for Y2k all across the board
...Planet Earth may have been my only dissapointment from him EVER.
To be on his own, Without major lable back up * and then $$Cake$$ up most of the profits..Hit & Run 2000 Tour , One Nite Alone Sound check, Musicology Tour Saw him 3 times Back to back, & YES HE SHOUTED ME OUT - LOOKED ME DEAD IN THE FREAKING EYES and i quote "DAT BROTHER RIGHT THERE, HE KNOWS WHAS UP"....yeah I amost fainted... anyway
Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, Grammy's , Superbowl, Constantly on Talk Shows and promoting & Interviewing, Practically owning Las Vegas, Then Own o2 Arena, -It's amazing year after year how he continues to grow and can "re popularize" himself.... or get us to LOVE him all over again... with prince - the love never leaves RIGHT.. I call it soft hating. FROM WHAT I SEE,
THE ENTIRE DECADE TREATED HIM VERY WELL.....
