I just got the 2nd cd of Prince (self titled) and i was wondering what did you all think of it when you first got it?
i've heard the first 2 songs on there so many times that i practically know all the words to them biggrin
what's up with the picture on the back tho?? eek
that was so unexpected...

I think the album is incredible! I got this cd when I was around 10 or 11 years old (90'-91') and I loved it right away. That was not the case with all of his albums. I had to listen to many of his cds several times before liking them. This cd is even more impressive knowing how old Prince was and the creative control he had over the project. If you look at pictures of Prince over his career, many seem koooookie. I don't really want to see little home skillet in a speedo and a trench coat or on a unicorn, but God bless the man..keep making that timeless, funky ass music.

The photo on the back is cool. I also like the photo on the insert of FOR YOU! that is a big flipping afro!

But I dig Prince from the first listen. It rocked!

The Prince album's "I Wanna Be Your Lover" is the first I heard of Prince, but it was on a K-Tel album. I slowly grew into him from there. The album is top notch.

I got 1999 and Purple Rain when they were released, then worked my way backward and forward at the same time - becoming current again with Parade. 1984 and 1985 were good years for me!

I immediately loved the "Prince" album. Every song is great, and you could already see him evolving. It does have one foot in the disco era, though.

I like it a lot. Sexy Dancer is lovely. The first two songs of course are pop gems. Bambi is bloody brilliant - probably my favourite Prince rocker. The ballads are a bit drippy, but I do love Gonna Be Lonely - especially how it seems to end so many times before the close of the track. The song I would most often skip would be I Feel 4 U.

Great album.

I just wish had left off With You and Included the extended version of Sexy Dancer.

With You is a bit too cutesy for my taste, he should just given it away.

The rest of it is great. Why You Wanna Treat me So bad is my favorite Prince Pop Rock song.

This album took forever for me to enjoy. I felt the second half dragged, (and still feel that way to an extant). Having said that, Why You Wanna Hurt Me So Bad? is an amazing song.
