Prince - Parade Album / Movie Edition????

I recently got this Parade album with exclusive soundbits from the movie. It must be a new boot because I have never heard of it.

Anyway the album is very very good, the segues into each song are fantastic, there are many interludes from the movie that go right into each song. Not every song from the Parade album are included however it more pertains to the songs that were featured in the film itself.

"The Show Will Proceed.."

As I understand it, It will simply be called Cherries.
Have a look out and you may find it. lol

What's the sound quality.

I've stopped listening to boots that don't have good sound quality, except a few (Rebirth of the Flesh, etc.).

It'll be an interesting day when this material becomes available from the vaults, if we're not all dead by then.

^Some of the outtakes are a little raw (the trio of LGWP, NP, IWU), but the released material and the movie stuff is tip-top, as you'd expect.

That's my bootleg!!! excited Honestly!

I made that in 2003, and called it "Parade: The Show Will Proceed". There are two disks. I also did "Purple Rain: Severe Storms - The Extended Forecast". It has the 'iTude Records" stamp on it I believe. But the Purple Rain disk has a different stamp. Ted, owner of DTT Lyrics, helped me compile a few things for the Purple Rain set, so we came up with a different name for that "record label" stamp, I believe. God, it's been six years since I did all that stuff.

My goal was to put the songs in order that they appeared in the film (and a couple were played more than once). I also wanted to put in "Mia Bocca", and segue it right into the song. It was tough to listen to the beat and try to figure out where it was in the song (remember, in the movie it was just the drum beat and some strings), and then segue it into Jill's song. I think I nailed it though. I also had a tough time with "New Position" thing, but I think it worked very well. I had to edit a few things for the sake of time, and keep it moving along. I didn't want it to feel like it was just the movie on a CD. I wanted the music to be the highlight, but added the dialogue to keep a "story" in there as well.

I found doing both boots to be very, very fun. I struggled with Purple Rain because I was never happy with how "Take Me With U" turned out, and I never had a great quality copy of the original cut of "The Beautiful Ones". some things worked and sounded better than others.

I added those Parade outtakes at the end because I had the space. They are not newer or better versions, they're there for the sake of being there, and they were from the album. I think I mixed "Little Girl Wendy's Parade" into the album version of "New Position", but then segued that into the boot version of "I Wonder U", just to have it in it's original form.

I always giggle when someone finds that boot. I never made it to gain money (and I never sold one copy, or even tried). I did the boot for me, and I did upload it to a GROUP and put the NEWS out about it. From there, I suppose it's floated around a bit over the years. I hope you like it. I'll answer any other ?'s you have about it, although I'm not sure it's that deep. hahaha

Yeah, it was the best copies I could find at the time. I used Mixmesiter to mix the whole thing together and mix down. I only enhanced the bass or treble a little bit on certain tracks that sounded too thin. I didn't want one song to stand out more than another. I knew that "Mia Bocca" would pop out more because it was a finished album track. I'm a bit happier w/ this one than the Purple Rain one I did.

Yes. In the party scene where Prince and company crash the party (at night time), and Mary throws away the tarot cards that Mrs. Wellington gave her, that drum beat you hear throughout is the drum track to "Mia Bocca". There might be some of Clare's strings in there too. The song is listed in the credits as well, IIRC.

Thanks. I had a ball putting it together. Very fun project. I was going to do one for Batman or Graffiti Bridge, but Batman was heavy on dialogue and not on music, whereas GB was heavy on music, and not dialogue, so there was no real reason to do either.

I assume then that you have the artwork for Parade?

I just wondered. I don't remember if I have it or not. I did print it once, because it's on my Master CDs. I haven't really looked for any of the artwork I made. However, I'm pretty sure I don't have the Purple Rain artwork.

Thanks didn't notice, Prime reason Jills album should have been released in 86 as well

the Family Mazarati the Revolution Sheila E & Jill all should have been in the movie weither or not they had speaking parts. It would have done wonders for the movie

It took me a long time to figure out where the song was. I was like "Why are all these songs listed?? They're not in the movie!!!" I knew "New Position" and "I Wonder U", but other things are a bit more illusive, like "Mia Bocca".

A certain cranky, medical member of the Revolution kind of wondered why the band wasn't in the movie, even just in a crowd scene or something. But it seems that Prince was just very tunnel-visioned about himself in it. Perhaps I can understand that in that he didn't want it to be anything like PR, so to have the band in it would be "Oh, there's Wendy!", and possibly detract from the story at hand. I think Jill would have been a great as the hostess of La Pavillion, with that old cranky Maître d'. Sheila could have been one of Mary's girlfriends. I do agree about The Family, had Paul not jumped ship. They could have been a band in the restaurant or something. Eh.....coulda shoulda woulda.

If he didn't want it to be like Purple Rain, which I understand, the draw to Prince was never his talking, but the music. Which is one reason it didn't do as good as it could have. And the other thing, if he didn't want it to be like PR, have Jerome B as his sidekick was the most obvious thing that connected it to PR. This was a movie for Morris Day & the Time

It tickles me that it's out there and people actually trade and listen to it. I really was just a personal project for shits and giggles, although I did put everything I had into it to blend the music and the dialog as seamlessly as possible. There's some website w/ bootlegs on it that had both the UTCM and Purple Rain boots on there. I emailed the guy and told him they were my bootlegs and offered extra information for him. I still wish I could find the artwork for the Purple Rain - Severe Storms: Extended Forecast set. I didn't know what else to call that one either, but to call this one "The Show Will Proceed" seemed obvious. I tossed around other title ideas, but I kept coming back to "The Show Will Proceed".

No, it wasn't. Of course the Parade album is the soundtrack. However, The Show Will Proceed has never been released in another incarnation. I only released it ONCE, and will only ever release it ONCE under The Show Will Proceed. Whatever this "soundtrack" is you speak of with the lead in on any particular song, and some remix for each song, is another bootleg entirely and has nothing to do with my compilation.

Anything else will either be someone else's from scratch, or a rip-off of what I did. (ie Cherries)
