Do you blame Mayte... ?

... for the sugary songs on the Emancipation album... question

I mean following the Gold Experience funk masterpiece, those sugary love songs were not what I expected: like the leading single Betcha By Golly Wow!

I believe - some of - the songs on Emancipation were recorded by Prince as a "Love Statement" to Mayte - especially for her: It was like Prince actually seduced Mayte with those songs, didn't he..

Betcha By Golly Wow
I Can't Make U Love Me
One Kiss At A Time
Friend Lover Sister Mother/ Wife
La La La Means I Love U
(maybe more?)

- I don't blame her for those soft songs wink

- and Prince is forgiven long time ago,
I have learned to really appreciate these songs, and Emancipation in general.

Those songs are really great, very beautiful and sexxy too, imo!

heart music

What do you think??

Emancipation does have three discs you know. If you don't like those songs, just skip Disc 2!

Mayte ruined everything!

She is to the NPG what Yoko Ono was to the Beetles--utter and inevitable artistic death!

Before Mayte, Prince had a blossoming career trajectory to infiltrate the hardcore hip hop market with Tony M. Who the hell do you think Tony M. was referring to when he spoke of 23 positions and a one night stand? Prince, fool!
They even appeared on Arsenio simulating anal sex (Prince being the submissive bottom in a yellow jumpsuit, matching pumps, and a yellow 'do' rag on his head of course).

But after Mayte, we were lead down a slippery slope to 1999--the new master.

Of course, Prince isn't truly the victim here. Prince seems to always get his women back, because after they part ways, his women always end up losing their damned minds. Look at what happened to Vanity! Hell, look at the mess that became of Mayte! She went from a Royles Royce (Prince) to the Scooby Doo Mystery Machine (Tommy Lee).... Thanks to his various communicable diseases, she's potentially the least datable woman on earth now just behind Kate Goselin and the Octomom.

I do not blame Mayte for anything. I know Prince was madly "in love" with her and she was his "muse" as they call it so he was fixated on writing and expressing his love for her. I do not blame him. P is a writer a musician, that goes without saying.

I love the remakes:

Betcha by golly wow

Lalala means I Love U

only One of Us is not so great, weak sounding compared to Joan Osborne's original.

To compare Mayte with Yoko One is a little too much, imo. lol

I have learned to appreciate those "sugary" songs,

and - I enjoy the funky 1992 prince symbol album, she was Prince's inspiration/ muse there too, remember ?

Mayte was/ is a true beauty, they were a lovely couple. Prince's music hasn't been too great since he left Warner, but I don't blame Mayte... she is far from the "evil" Yoko One, imo... love

they would probably still be together if he hadn't tried to control eveything she did...according to an interview of hers anyway. she said he told her what to wear and wouldn't let her call him on the phone when he was away.

meh...

I'm sorry but how can one control another without the others permission. I understand Mayte being young and all but let's face it she knew what time it was or people in her life did and she went along for the ride. Prince doesn't have much power over a woman unless she lets him have it. What's going to happen if she picked up the phone and called him?

Prince and Mayte together were awesome.
I love the song "lets have a baby" if you listen to that song
and really listen to the words... it just kinda breaks our heart
when you think of the baby they lost
I honestly think Prince was at his best and happiest with
the original NPG and Mayte.
The music flowed and the band was FUN..
Prince seems so happy and was on alot of interview shows etc..

Mayte is a beautiful person.... and I really wish the 2 of
them could of stayed together.. cause they made a very sexy
cute couple.....

• Did you first think Prince was gay? •

Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

some women are just doormats, i guess. i've seen it all too many times.
his fault for doing it, and her fault for accepting it...and i guess she just got tired of it after a while. only the two of them really know what happened. i was just posting what i saw on her interview.
