Purple Rain theatrical showing in Washington, DC

I wanted to know if there was anyone interested in watching Purple Rain on the big screen in Washington, DC. The theater there said if there were enough interested they would show it during one of their midnight shows on a Friday and Saturday in a chosen week. They show "Rocky Horror" and that draws a big crowd. Tickets are $10 a person. I would print out a list of all who apply to this posting so he could see the many that would come. People can dress in their favorite 80's outfit or mimic one of the characters in Purple Rain. We could sing-a-long to the songs during the show, Bring lighters and light them during the Purple Rain performance (Well I can ask will that be ok first). Recite the lines out loud.....or none of that. Just come and enjoy Purple Rain on the big screen.

Please Reply.....I will be in touch with further details if this works.

I'm all 4 it. I did the "Rocky Horror," thing...and I adore "Purple Rain."

Whenever kids have a mature attitude toward fun, music and dancing are concerned...I believe it's a healthy way to spend your time.

Suggesting that people wear lingere in the street...NO! That is going too far into the sexy stuff and that's unnecessary and possibly dangerous for young girls.

The trench coat...the suits...the music...throwing purple confetti...maybe even eating purple popcorn...and whatever else is a fun loving interpretation of "Purple Rain." I support as a proud "18," year old in 1984. cool

Put yourself in touch with Kathy Jentz at www.lovesexydc.org. We've been there, done that in DC a few times over the years.

I assume you're thinking Landmark E Street?

Spring or summer might work. Ain't nobody likely to want to fight all the hassle of parking downtown or the Metro AND freeze their ass off.

PJT - why aren't you on the LoveSexyDC yahoo list and active in the DC Prince family? See more details on us at www.LoveSexyDC.ORG.

We JUST DID a PR screening in November at the State Theatre in Falls Church, VA - it is a great venue and terrific bug screen, but alas, only about 15 people showed up for the film - about 20 more came for the party afterwards.

We have done PR showings several previous times - the most we ever got was at AFI Silver last summer and it was partnered with a School of Rock band covering Prince tunes. That got 100 folks.

If you are thinking of E St and Midnight, anything is possible - but I doubt you'll get more than 50 folks even with heavy, consitent publicity.
