17 Days- Joy Division There is a piano melody in Joy Division's "The Eternal" (at around 51 seconds) that always reminds me of the keyboard hook in "17 Days" slowed down. It drove me crazy for years until I connected the two. They aren't the same, but has anyone else ever thought they were similar?

Not hearing it. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I find JD quite depressing. Oh wait, didn't one of them commit suicide? Yes, Ian Curtis - his lyrics were beautiful..but depressing. I can't never get tired of the "Unknown Pleasures" album. The only album which is more depressing is "Pornography" by The Cure.

believe it or not I lived in the house next door to Ian when he hung himself. I was around 11 at the time. He really was a lovely guy and would always smile and say hi if he saw me going off to school.

Somehow I found them very funny. "...When I realise with fright Spiderman is having me for diner tonight.."

Wow ...Must be devastating, for a kid. I think I saw a film about them. Don't know the title anymore, but it was by Michael Winterbottom ... I think. 24 hour partypeople, or something?

I kinda vaguely (if I squint my ears) see where you're coming from.
Love JD. New Order also had their moments, but their worst was pretty terrible.

The biopic on Ian was done on location, was weird seeing our old house in the movie.

Nope, you are tone deaf, I hear NO 17 Days in it. "The voter is less important than the man who provides money to the candidate," - Former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens
