Nah...there's rationale fans...A rationale fan understands that you don't live or die with the guy...That you don't place a person you never met too high or too low...That Prince is the same dude he was in the '80s and that he hasn't really changed one bit... If you (meaning the fans) tolerated his asshole behavior or complained about him not doing what you (the fans) want him to do when he was putting out those great records in the '80s, then why start 30 plus years into his career... To me, it works both ways.....  And in some things I am totally not rational. I've hopped on a plane to go see him perform with 2 hours notice before.

The one thing that you learn about life when you get past a certain age (although some never realize this!) Is that the one constant in life, besides death, is CHANGE! It was a great post then, and it's a great post now. I guess you can label me someone who's more forgiving of Prince's antics. Mostly, because they don't seem that fucking serious when you get down do it. I spent the entire summer in the hospital. The fuck do I care that Prince doesn't want his videos on Youtube? I think people here get personally offended by the fact that Prince's music isn't as good as it used to be. If Prince's albums are great from start to finish, fine. If not, at least I know that they'll be at least 1 or 2 jams that will be in rotation. There people here who are too invested in Prince's personal and business life. He doesn't know who the fuck you are. Why are you constantly bitching about everything the man does? If he plays a concert full of hit songs. "Well, he's just playing tired old hits". I have known Murph for years , he is not just an encyclopedia about prince but other great artists too.... Respect. Whatever I don't like about Prince, I would never insult how he looks. Prince was going to dress the way he wanted to dress, look the way he wanted to look and sing the shit he wanted to sing and he didn't give a fuck what we thought. My own insecurities were being attacked by this brass young cat from Minneapolis who was simply unflappable. I have to say though, I got that from the very beginning about Prince, and it was one of the things that fascinated me about him, actually... really admired about him, always. It's easy to get carried away on here, either raving about his every move or criticising his latest release / fan site / whatever, especially when listening to others opinions. However, if left to my own devices... I take him and accept him the way he is, even if I don't always agree, because I think you're right, he's still the same as he always was. People 'mature' but they they don't really change. Prince LOVES to do the opposite of what people want / expect, and I'm not really sure you can be a Prince 'fan' if you don't get that about him. Because he's been using Christian Religious imagery in his music and on stage for the majority of his career. The dude put the Lord's Prayer in the middle one of his most beloved songs. During the Purple Rain tour he would say stuff like "There's only one lord, Jesus". Prince being deeply religious and spiritual isn't just a phase like some people want it to be.
