My Computer.

i love this song. very unique, not much like anything else he's done. And I adore Kate's background vocals. Great arrangement/production on this track. I've always thought it was one of the standouts on Emancipation. Still play it quite a bit.

Although I guess it seems a bit dated, but that's ok... still like it.

I love it but wish I could hear it without the repeating of, 'a better life', at the end. That part annoys me, love the music there just not repeating vocal line.

And now for a cup of tea.

It's one of the highlights of the album for me too nod

My Computer was a pleaser and still is. With it’s (a the time) techno savvy feel, and stripped back arrangement it seems to really personify the isolation and coldness that the internet offers an escape from. With obvious Kate Bush influence (the treated vocals are very Cloudbusting) the alternating despair and hope of the verse and chorus arrangement made it immediately enjoyable. And with the plodding groove that transcends into that funky “better life” hook at then end makes it one of the stand outs of the whole set.

I really like the song. Actually I like the repeating vocal line at the end because it kind of mimics the rut we get into with the computer/email/net. This obsessive attachment, even though it's repetitive and entirely unhealthy when not controlled. We're like programmed robots who can't survive without it, that's where the repetition at the end immitates life for me. Then with the little "goodbye" from the pc at the end. Kinda cute.

You know how there are frequencies you can hear when you're young, but after you're a teenager you can't hear them anymore? I feel like that's the frequency Kate Bush is mixed at for this song, because I don't think I've ever heard her voice on this song at all.

But I like the song a lot nonetheless.

Great song ! One of the highlights of Emancipation for me too. I like it ! I also like the repeating of the line " a better life..." at the end, seems happy and, at the same time, full of despair...no ? I too, don't hear much of Kate in it...old age you say ?

I agree. I agree, I agree..finally some love 4 my computer....this song helped me out during some of my darkest moments...don't even ask...it's beautiful, genre-hopping, tuneful, sublime....has layers and layers and layers of melody....one of his all-time greatest moments....the coda is awesome. some of the mid-90s movements could eat crow....one of the cutting-edge moments on emancipation...
