No, there was never any doubt about Prince's ability to play the shows.

However, there was certainly a fair amount of raised eyebrows about whether
he'd be able to sell out 21 large arena shows in the same city, considering
he hadn't had a major hit for some time.

Were u guys celebrating everday of his success during the concerts?

Well, there was certainly a lot of excitement, and set lists were virtually
posted as they happened for all the main shows and aftershows. It was a
great time.

Lol, no because he wasn't a withered old man and he spaced out the 21 shows responsibly and intelligently. He did great.

I still can't really believe he did it. I thought the first few were going to be at the O2, then the last shows would be at a smaller venue. Was looking forward to the possible smaller shows, but I guess I got my fix of that from the Indigo aftershows.
RIP sad

Sorry, maybe I missed the point....what I wad trying to say is that The Org was awesome then, it was all about frienship, sharing the vibe and was doing all of the things you'd expect an official site to do but for free (or in some cases a loss)

There was talk (from him I think) that he was taking a very long break to concentrate in JW life and studying the bible....but not dying

Yeah he did do that after the shows. He kept to his word for once.

Basically it consisted of Wolfy fucking people off 24/7. "For the true fams" my arse.

One big ticket panic that I remember. Lots of windows open trying to get tickets. Refresh, refresh, refresh.

Oh, and that's when I became a Prince fan again. And I joined the Org. I spent a lot of money buying all the albums again for the remainder of that year.

I cried like a baby when he never turned up for the first aftershow I went to. I'm not lying either. Mind you, I was ridiculously drunk.

Could be worse...I almost pissed myself when he did turn up at the final aftershow....and just kept playing and playing and playing. I wouldnt and couldn't get to the toilet until the very end and had to waddle there in absoloute agony.

Ah, what's a little bladder rupture in the grand scale of things

I actually quite enjoyed taking a leak when Prince was on stage at the aftershow. It was the fact that I was carrying out one of the base human/animal requirements whilst PRINCE was wailing away on his guitar on stage. Like, How Cool Is That!

and-even better

for two whole months-you could get main and aftershow tix at ticketmaster

if you timed it right. I had folks stalking the place-and it got me amazingly great tix to all shows-except aug 18th which i'll never forget-cuz i', scared of heights and was upper tier

imagine....2 months of-''shall i bother going to a Prince show or aftershow tonight''

amazing-and sadly-it aint gonna happen again

Yep - that was the real fun. Going online during breaks at work, getting great seats right down on the floor next to the stage, and then texting some lucky bugger to let them know that tonight it was their turn to come with me.

I bought tix for two shows before they started, but ended up going to 5 more main shows and 2 aftershows (he played at both), where I bought the tix that day.

Then on the tube on the way there, the papers would all have pix and stories about him. It was the talk of the town.

I am happy for those who had a great time, but I also think that it's sad that some people bury themselves in debt just to see Prince play.

I remember the days Prince used to go on a yearly tour to play all major European cities. He charged reasonable ticket prices for concerts much more attractive than 21 nights, like the SOTT, Lovesexy, Nude, Diamonds & Pearls and Act II tours. Now those really were the days.

21 nights was, certainly since Diamonds & Pearls, the cheapest tickets. ONA was £50 per ticket, NPS was £35, Gold was £35....actually ACT ii was £27 so that's cheaper and D&P was £25.

So really it's the cheapest gigs for well over a decade....and if you think Madonna was asking £80 to watch her mime and act in a wY you'd hope a normal granny wouldn't, it's fairly cheap

You're right about Madonna acting like a granny shouldn't. Myself and the missus were watching her video on some channel yesterday and both made the comment that, although her physical appearance is very good for a woman of her age, it still doesn't negate the fact that she is still a woman of her age.

She's 50 and surrounded by youngsters. It's starting to look a little sad and desperate, like 40-something divorcees out clubbing. It's a pity that some people try so hard to hang on to their youth instead of aging admirably.

Should have been there on the 21st night...if you weren't concussed by flying glowsticks, sat next to a first-time somebody constantly talking and asking "will he play When Doves Cry?", Only stopping to continue screaming at people to stop throwing glowsticks....then it was an awesome night.

If you were at that night, don't like flying glowsticks but lives When Doves Cry....than shame on you!!! But also thank you because you probably made deciding my favourite day in life so far between the birth of my son or 21st September 2007 a liitle bit easier.

But if I ever see you again..... smile

fair enough, 21 nights was not so expensive. I was comparing the prices to his todays standards but . It was only in london tho', for a non british citizen to travel to the most expensive city in the world and spend the night there makes that an endeavour some fans would drive themseves into debt for.
like the vegas shows too.. I think that's pretty sad.

to be fair-i think when folk say debt-they don't mean they put the house at risk or anything-they-like me, just used their credit card alot more than they usually do in summer 2007

and if ANYTHING is worth having to do some overtime and juggling for-its a Prince show-or the chance to go to several

if you stayed at home being all sensible all the time-man life would be

worse.... wink

London isn't the most expensive city in the world, I believe Dublin is ahead on that unfortunate top ten.

A typical Prince show had always been a lot less physically demanding than a typical MJ show.

Well, they may have been on par back in the day, but I guess the difference is that if Prince, for example, had a bad ankle one night, he could still go out and 'perform' just twanging his guitar and singing into his mic and everyone would be happy. However if Michael had a bad ankle, it could potentially jeopardise the entire show as the MJ 'show' was based all around the choreography and the visual spectacle.

Perhaps 'physically demanding' isn't the best term. Perhaps 'physically important' is more in line with what I meant.

or, like Madonna shows, 'physically distracting', so that nobody really cares that they aren't singing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a 'Prince is the only star' but I don't see the pointbin forking out huge fortunes to travel and watch a professional singer JUST dance. The irony is that, but for the choreography, any one of us could take to the stage and put on the same MJ or Madonna show....just hit play.

Remember that summer perfectly - had just moved to the UK, and got my tix during my first day at work. Can honestly say my new employer was not impressed when I told him "I can't do the kick-off meeting at 9am, I've got something VERY URGENT to attend to" wink

Unfortunately only managed one night including aftershow, which was the first time I'd seen P for 16 years (and back then I had just entered school, so did not really appreciate it as much!). But we had the luck of being there on the 28th August show, which was the "Rock trio" one with just Prince, Cora and Josh... simply amazing, full stop. Again, my new employer was not impressed with me staggering into the office after a late night out during the week, and even worse I could simply not concentrate on work for the next day or so... but who cares, I had an amazing time biggrin

And to get back to the original question, looking at the live set list updates from various orgers was a standard part of my late evenings for two months, nothing better than getting first hand information virtually instantaneously and reading reviews from various Orgers! cool

I remember when the book came out. some people were complaining that $30.00 was too much to pay for it. Probably the same ones that are still crying over that $77.00. It's bad to be poor.

I seem to remember that unless everyone I knew could talk about Prince all night, I wasn't interested in what they had to say. It was like being on a
different planet for a few months - Planet Prince.

I laugh now when I think about my fixation. Even when I got home after an Indigo night at 4 a.m. I logged straight onto org! But org was so useful, so many little tips, I learnt SO MUCH and because of these tips, I managed to be in the right place at the right time to get on stage with P himself omfg

It was very worrying that P was trying to shut down the site, he IS soooo controlling.

I could write another 58 pages but you've heard it ALL before. He is THE man,
and I would do it ALL OVER AGAIN. I wonder if I'll get the chance?
