Even Price's early studio stuff went through the console of his home studio. I think Dez was referring to his live set-up. I was thinking about the guitar playing of Purple Rain vs LotusFlow3r
I was also thinking about the Minneapolis sound vs 2009 Minneapolis Sound when I saw the Breakfast Club this morning and Jesse Johnson has a song at the end of the movie something about that 1983-1985 sound via Purple Rain, Jesse Johnson etc etc it still sounds so futuristic (a lot of movies then had that future inspiration/apocolyptic) I think it's why I still think that music just rolls over most his sound after the 80's there was something so meaty and 'not of it's time' that just catches my attention. | |

i think he sounds better know than in the PR days. He used too much flanger and delay (in the 80´s) for my taste. | |

Firstly, it's mostly a Strat he's using. Second, I know he went through some tubes in the signal path. Also, the tone is like a cross between Prince and Hendrix. It is made 2 be heard through a proper stereo system, and loud. I'm not trying 2 insult or demean your impression. Just sayin'... The guitar tone throughout the 'Lotusflow3r' album is the best I've heard on record from P.
