Sign o the Times era 'outtakes & B sides'

I know that most of the music that became the Sign o the Times album came from the Dream Factory album + [the Crystal Ball & Camille Project]

My baby brothers favorite Prince album is SOTT and I bought the cd for his birthday.

I burned a Camille cd for him with a cover and back-playlist
Rebirth of the Flesh
Housequake (extended)
Strange Relationship
Feel U Up (long stroke)
Shockadelica (B side edit)
Good Love
If I Was Your Girlfriend
Rock Hard In a Funky Place

I want to add another disk with outtakes long versions, b-sides
and a live show either the 'live rehearsal at 1st Avenue' or a Paris show

so far all I have is

Shockadelica (long stroke)
La La La He He Hee (edit & extended)
Make Yo Momma Happy

Good Love II

are there any others that we created during the time of the SOTT band?

Is Cosmic Day a possible? Was that done with the Revolution era?
How about Good Love? was that the SOTT band or the Revolution era?

Maybe I'll add Sheila E Koo Koo and Jill Jones All Day All Night(it has that Housequake beat) & Taj Sevelle Love is Contagious

and then do a Madhouse with B sides cd

Yes it is..I think he picked that song because it's credited to Camille and it seems you want all of the Camille tracks.I was going to say Love or Money, but that was with the Revolution.

Good Love is the right era, but that's not a band recording.

What about adding:

Crystal Ball
Crucial
Superfunkicalifragisexi (the unreleased version is hella funky)

How about making him a copy of the Sign of the times movie or ripping the audio from the movie to the cd?

Cosmic Day is from 1986 but I dont think was intended for a particular album/project.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

Well, besides all the tracks that didn't make the cut from Crystal Ball, you could also add some out-takes from 1986/7 that have a similar sound:

Witness 4 The Prosecution (the second version)
The Sex Of It
Baby Go-Go
The Line (Lovesexy out-take, but features the band)

You could also add some of the Black Album stuff, 'Koo Koo' by Sheila E. is very sparse and SOTT-esque, 'Yo Mister' by Patti LaBelle, and maybe some of the Jill Jones and Madhouse 8, 16.

U Gotta Shake Something maybe too. smile

Edit - Didn't see you already said Jill, Sheila & Madhouse, good choices!

But it was intended for SOTT - Adore replaced it on the album.

Hard to pin anything down Prince actually recorded with the full band at the time - closest you'll get is the Madhouse stuff.

yeah, that is true, that is a very interest album/era
because it seems most of the music is not original for the project like all the others

It's like a collage, of times,
even like the stage set up/album cover a combination of new things(double kick drum set) and old(paisley speakers from the parade tour)

the Sign o the Times set I'm putting together for him is the start,
He has reawakened as a Prince fan, and wants everything from For U - Batman

I'll do compilations of stuff from the following years

So U Gotta Shake Something I'll do with a Parade era cd

and the Line(which I was thinking about) I'll uses with Lovesexy

Taj Sevelle is from 1987 correct?

What do you consider a band recoding?
Susannah's voice is all over that track (sped up as well)

Fairly obvious, I think: a band recording would be a track recorded with a group of musicians, and not Prince doing it all (or mostly) by himself. Think Data Bank or the 86 version of We Can Funk.

There are quite a few tracks that are Prince on all instruments with Susannah on backing vocals... Anotherloverholenyohead (lp version), Joy in Repetition, Crystal Ball (minus the orchestra), and Starfish and Coffee are some others...when Prince is playing drums, bass, and keyboards on a track I wouldn't think of it as a band recording... unlike stuff like Large Room w/ No Light, Power Fantastic and Data Bank '86 where you have a full band in the studio

Yep there are song where it's Prince on all instruments or instrument sounds like Ballad of Dorothy Parker with added vocals by Susannah, Lisa Wendy or others, then full band recordings, then Prince with 1 or more musicians but it wouldn't be considered a full band recording.

There were other times where it wasn't the full band together, but each band member came in to lay down their part, and so in a sense it is a full band recording, they just didn't do it all at the same time.

From SOTT, I count:

40 outtakes
8 Madhouse songs
5 Sheila E songs
8 Jill Jones songs

for a grand total of 61... PLUS the actual 16 on SOTT.
Whew!
