Who's your favourite drummer? ..is it Michael "Big" B. or the most sexy drummer in the world, Sheila E.? Or Prince, the man himself?

I like Prince's drumming on record. He's put some killer stuff down on wax. The drumming on Darling Nikki kills me. I know it's a mix of traps and Linn, but it's a perfect amalgam. When Prince drums on a record, you know it's exactly what he was feeling at that moment. There's something to be said for that from an artistic standpoint.
Purple Fact #542: Prince can make a Weeble™ fall down.

Live drumming goes to Sheila, especially when she shows off her timbales. You're right. And as said many times before - he was (and probably still is) the master of drum programming. Imago: "You look My cover of the "Crush" by Smashing Pumpkins: http://prince.org/msg/15/314710.

Michael Bland John Blackwell I agree. It's really a toss up between these three. Sheila had the flair and a certain 'skippiness' about her playing, Bland had the power and could hold a tempo like a rock, and JB was kind of a mix of both - the virtuosity and the showmanship. Even Kirky J? Fans hate Kirky J. but there must be something good about him if Prince and Michael Bland both say that Kirk Johnson is a good drummer.I don´t think they´re just saying it to be nice to him.

Well, he's pretty good drum programmer, but as a live drummer..nah. If you watch Rave Un2 The Year 2000, he has no style and his drumming is boring..but I saw some videos where he's quite good. But in the end - when you want to compare him with other Prince's drummers..Kirky has no chance. Imago: "You look My cover of the "Crush" by Smashing Pumpkins: http://prince.org/msg/15/314710.
