Prince mentioned in fiction novels ?!?

At the moment I'm reading a book:

"The jukebox blared "Little Red Corvette" by Prince. Or was it by the Artist Formerly Known As Prince? Wasn't that what he called himself now? But of course when "Little Red Corvette" had been released he had been Prince. So which was it? Myron tried to reconcile this crucial dilemma, but it began to confuse him like one of those time paradoxes in the Back to the Future movies so he gave up. ..."

The novel is Fade Away by Harlan Coben, one of the Myron Bolitar novels (Go and read them all !).

Are there anymore novels out there that mention Prince in any way ?

Yours,
Jan

yes, I have read many books that in some way mention Prince. The first one that comes to mind is Michael Ondatje's "Anil's Ghost". The main character puts on her Prince t-shirt.

In the early 90's I read a collection of short stories called "Did Gustav Mahler Ski?" One story had a Prince reference, I think it also was something about "Little Red Corvette."

(If you want a traduction, send me a mail)

Another one...in Stephen King's "It", one of the characters is shopping (IIRC) and the radio station that the store is playing announces that the station is giving away the new Prince album to whoever calls in and names the actor that played the big brother on "Leave It To Beaver". The character (Ben I believe his name was) does know the name of the actor (TOny Dow) but does not want the new Prince album (pretty much how it's written). This book came out in 1986 or 87 so the "new album" may have been ATWIAD or Parade (or neither!) but I just remember being so amused that King had put Prince in a novel (and I'm assuming he's not a fan!)

Hi,

is it just me ? I found another one, this time in "Sanibel Flats" by Randy Wayne White:

Scene :

"My God, they're playing Twisted Sister. They are playing Van Halen. They're playing PRINCE, man. Rot their damn brains, listening to junk like that. ... "

The book is wonderful wink Go and read it.

hectim

There's one book by Belgian writer Herman Brusselmans (I think it's Guggenheim Wast Witter) in which the main character and his psychotherapist are both obsessed by Emacipation-era Prince. He even drinks a cocktail of his own design called Prince on every other page.

MeTouchMyself

there is a lesbian novel a friend of mine was reading and she shared with me that the author mentioned prince in one of the fantasies...something about a yellow brick road leading to erotic city...and prince music was playing.
