Prince's Gay Persona

You know what is tripped out-- that back in the day Prince used a femenine persona to get more sales. People thought that he was gay. So now Prince is 51 and he's done using that persona know...so he goes all homophobic. I don't understand him. And this is coming from a straight person.

Is this due to the one second flick of the wrist at the Canal performance?

Moreover, you appear to fall into a gay stereotype yourself by suggesting femininity in a male constitutes a homosexual orientation.

Prince is still using the feminine persona. His clothing is still flamboyant, his use of make-up etc. I agree that lyrically he is less ambiguous and this is probably due to his religion.

If anything I think its decreased his sales manifold, the US is still a bastion of conservative homophobes and its 31 years later. That wouldn't have been a very smart sales strategy...

That's not gay...it's just a player in disguise.

I believe he went with that persona for the women.

I believe most women want a big strong muscular stinky man. But often men can also be calous and hard headed and think of sex in terms of body parts and scoring and grunting and pick up lines etc who don't focus much on theirs on anyone else's feelings.

Then along comes the shy sensitve song writing pretty boy with the long eyelashes and the long well kept hair (something women can also relate to). They feel safe around him because he can understand them. He's the best of both worlds because he's sensitive and understanding with a high pretty voice who understands the art of well applied make up and can appreciate silk blouses with frills and high heeled suede boot, flowers and poetry but also a man that can go to bed with them. Don't get it twisted. It's definately not gay...he's just a player in disguise.

You get me wrong, God does not judge. I'am not judging.I was the one that when
everybody in my family and friends thought he was Gay I didn't. No this tread is not about that.I think you can still play with your old band an God will judge you alone. Thank You And God Bless.

It sounded kinda judgemental to me. You don't know Prince to come up with that assessment. I'm not defending him but what you said sounded silly, whether you're straight or gay.
