Hi, Newbie alert!! Looking 4 info?

Hi Everyone, I have been a long time reader but it's my first time posting. I have been a Prince fan for 24ish years, but only finding myself in regards to what the wonderful world of MP3 has to offer!!. Anywhoo!!, I was recently going through all my cassette tapes of prince boots and the only thing that I haven't been able to match with the boot list on this website is a song titled "Livin' in america". It's around a 7/8 minute track with a repetitive synth line and a drum track, Prince's vocals sound like the one from "dead on it" or the cops voice from "Bob George". The first few lines are " Livin' in America with taxes so high,.(something,something,something).....Ain't nothing but a lie, All done in vocodered spoken word. Absolutely brilliant tune, Prince at his quirky best. If
anyone can help give a proper name to the tune I would be so indebt!!!

Soulyacolia, As much as we all love the genius that is Prince, i love the fact that u also appreciate the wonder of Zappa and the mothers! The track I am looking for was on a boot with tracks like "the ball" "Elephants and flowers (alternate version)" "soulpsychedelicide version4" etc. Anyone??

I've heard of it but I haven't heard it...yet. wink As far as I know, the title is correct and it's an outtake or demo from circa 1993. If that helps in your quest, do kindly and most importantly...discreetly, let me know. lurking
I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I have this song. I've been told by more than a few hard core collectors that it's not Prince. The more I listened to it, I also think it's a fake. Especially the ending of the song. It doesn't sound like his speech patern when the singer is thanking Warner Bros, etc.

Hi 7souls. It's always that last line "only..in america" that has always made me doubt if it is Prince. The rest of the track is so prince though, would u not agree? It's like the "Do Anything" track,is it or isn't it Prince?

Hi Borisfishpaw, How can u be so certain? I have my doubts too from the vocals, but the fact it was on a prince boot and most of the vocals are prince like,my intersst now is,do u have any backgroud on the track,i.e if it's not Prince who is it? and how did it end up on prince boots? Thanks.

There use to be this guy who would put songs online in a camille type voice and he would claim it was by Prince but it was really him. So theres a bunch of fakes out there, the song Pretty Bitch is a perfect example.

That would be 'Rebirth Of The Flesh'.

'Livin' In America' is one of the fakes on the old 'Rudeboy' bootleg IIRC, definately fake.

This song was on the "Rude boy" bootleg which was full of fakes. Probably the worst Prince boot ever.
Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.
