PRINCE GOES OFF TOPIC ON 2ND TAVIS SMILEY INTERVIEW I know that this is old, but does anybody remember when Tavis asked Prince about his struggle with Warner Bros. and Prince said something about "God Talk" and then he went on to say that sooner or later people will start looking up the DNA and the Human Genome. being a gemini myself it's the inner twin. the "Prince speak" is a defense mechanism to give an answer without really giving an answer. to change the subject without appearing rude. r there really angels? or r they just in our minds? it all comes out in the wash....in time. | |

Yeah, he kind of went off topic, but I could see where he was going with it...
Basically his main beef with WB was over the 'ownership' of the master recordings. Sure, Prince made money off these albums back in the day, and would still be recieving royalties for them today, but it pails in comparrison to what the label stand to make in the long term because they own the copyright of that recording. They can do what they want with it - put it on compilations, use it to promote other stuff etc. in (almost) any way they want. It's similar to what's happening in medical science at the moment... There's a huge debate going on right now about whether or not one should be allowed to 'patent' (own) specific gene codes when it comes to finding cures for cancers and what not. Who has the right to be able to 'own' certain physical attributes etc... So yeah, he didn't really link it too well, but I think that's where he was going with the "God talk". Yeah, I can see where you come from... 
That's why they have a TRANSCRIPT on the PBS site, so you and everyone else can can focus on the interview, without any... distractions...

Yeah, I can see where you come from...
That's why they have a TRANSCRIPT on the PBS site, so you and everyone else can can focus on the interview, without any... distractions...
