TURN ME LOOSE?

Does anyone know or care to speculate on what Prince's original intention was for this song?

He performed it on Leno complete with an artistic backdrop and full band. It looked like it was part of some project of its own originally.

Then it made no appearance on the lotusflow3r project, when it could have easily been placed on one of the CDs.

The studio version sounded a lot like something that could have taken the place of "The Morning After" on the download version. Or been included as a bonus track on the website... I mean, it wouldn't have been difficult--the website is extremely sparse on material.


Does anyone know much about this track? It wasn't stellar, but it wasn't bad either.

The studio version of the song is also complete--it's not a demo. So it was retail-ready even before lotusflow3r was released.

I really didn't care for the Leno performance, but I love the studio version. I too would like to know wtf the deal with this song is. Prince is a mystery, wrapped in a riddle, sauteed in butter, cooked in oil and served on a stick.

Turn Me Loose, $, Feel Good, Feel Better, Feel Wonderful and F.U.N.K. were all part of an organic funk album Prince had in the pipeline for a release around his Coachella gig in 2008. The Leno backdrop was the cover art.

I know this might be wishful thinking.....but let's see what happens.

'Turn Me Loose' was also registered at ASCAP in readiness for collection of publication monies.

candy dulfer mentioned a funk record on here web page. she recorded this record with prince and some great funk musicians she said... i remember reading this on the org sometimes before "turn me loose" hit the radio station. prince gave the song just as an exclusive to push another boy from bria valente.

Turn Me Loose is a great example of a great song across the board for me... with one big exception....I just don't feel right singing the lyrics anywhere. Even with the song. That's a bummer for me...

Turn Me Loose sounds like it came from the imagination of an old woman. I can't stand the way they layer the vocal part on the word "Loose" in the chorus. It's so cheezy, so lazy, so sad to see Prince fall into that particular songwriting trap. At least he decided not to have an official release, but he embarrassed himself just as much by coming out with that unfocused mess "Never Be Another Like Me'. I've been holding back criticism of LameazzFiller, but at some point I'm going to have to tell y'all what I truly hear on that album.
