do u think the emancipation album depresses prince now?

not the quality of the album, but the hope and optimism of a new marriage/love and the birth of his first born child.... reading the cd booklet is really sad, when u know how everything ended up neutral

Prince strikes me as the type not to go back and dwell on past works...he's always moving forward. Not to say that he probably doesn't have his memories, but I doubt he'd crack open the CD booklet and reminisce.

that's a good question, and i've pondered this before. i believe this was a difficult period for him, for sure. but he does play The Love We Make from this album still, but not much (if anything) else. Whether that's because of the relative lack of success of the album or painful memories, only he knows.... I'd love to see him revisit it and play some other tracks.

...no...that was a part of his L-I-F-E...a stage he had 2 go through...why??..because now when he finds TRUE L-O-V-E....PRINCE WILL KNOW THE DIFFERENCE...and that is a BLESSING!!!!!...

No, I don't think Emancipation depresses Prince now. People get divorced and lose a child all the time, I have too. His faith and God helped him move on, unlike so many of his fans. confused

That's a good question. Prince doesn't perform many songs off of that CD so could be a reason why he doesn't. It might be 50/50 in that he respects the time period and all that happened but yet the events that happened around the time of it's release and afterwards with Mayte may still be painful. Who knows.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Not any more than older tracks written about former lovers or missed opportunities do. I think he disassociates himself from the true feeling of when he wrote the track during some of the live performances. Even during the recording process because that meant the whole time he was recording "Come" he had "Vanity on the brain".
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!
