Let's be honest. ONA Live release is a disaster!

Every1 should here Prince live... yeah? Yeah! This was his chance 2 show people how good he is live. ONA Live launch parties, Leno TV appearance and numerous ads and articles in various publications. Lots of promotion by recent Prince standards. Then... u can't get it on general release in the shops! Duh!

He's a nutter! Wot a flop!

Well, my local HMV in Shrewsbury (reasonably small town) had 8 (yep, eight) copies on the shelf when I looked yesterday.

8?!!! shocked

My HMV told me they had 1 on order from a customer and were not gettin anymore in. Thing is it's ordered and priced as an import and that's my point. It shoulda gone on general release! I have mine coz i'm a member of NPGMC and all my friends think it's amazing and wanna buy it... but they can't. Either coz they cannot get hold of it or it's 2 expensive and here is the problem... it's an opportunity truly missed!

Shame.

For some reason he alwyas wants his releases to be hard to find...maybe it's
a way to create interest by having
people ask for it or order it at a retailer.

my home HMV has quite a few on the selves in the new release section for £50 with no import sticker on, while another bigger store near where I work has them (multiple) on sale for £58 but not sure about the IMPORT stickers though.

Well if I would presume he didn't want to have it as a major new release, otherwise he would have played the Record company ball game of signing to a major, with videos and promotion world-wide over a considerable period of time.

Let's get real, Prince doesn't appear to want to have to compete with Christina Aguilera and Ja Rule. He seems to get satisfaction through releasing through other avenues.

Well done to the Shrews in the FA cup at the weekend!
You beat us in the First Round (i'm a Stafford Rangers) 4-0, boy that was a bad day!

Good luck against Chelsea, thats if you even like football!

Actually I think Prince himself is the real disaster.

That's a good point. I don't know if Prince is against the Top 40 hits of this day and age but to hear these "gems" played over and over...It would be great to hear other great songs from the songs that you named. However, his Top 40 hits from the 80's are crowd pleasers...even if they all follow the same loop. At a concert I attended, someone actually asked at the end of the show why he didn't play more old stuff? I couldn't believe her question, 'cause to me, Prince was MADFAB. For those who are "casual" Prince lovers, One Nite Alone Live would be an excellent buy so that they can always relive their concert experience. For me, I would greatly appreciate hearing the Vault Children that have yet to be released (boots).

Just my thoughts,

The material on ONA is primo--there are songs that have been released and songs tha have not..the aftershow has some reworking and some faithful better renditions of fans hit list. There is nothing disasterous about ONA Live except the idiots who continue to complain about woulda-coulda-shoulda junk. Now namechecking deseved people is a different story but other than that ONA is a perfect document of a recent tour. It was never meant to be a complete overview of Prince live. Wake-up. It has barely been 2 months and all these doomsayers etc. are all over the place

Thats why he has Xenophobia, JIR, Extradorniary etc on there..for those who are tired of the regular set lists etc...He has Raspberry etc for those who enjoy them and are not well versed with his live material etc--there's something for everybody and the fact that the whole release isn't catering to just the now-it-alls is why theres unwarranted major complaints. Sort of like the stereotypical joke of the overly bossy woman having sex.."move this way--stick it here..go faster..do this..do that!" etc.

ANyone seen any UK reviews of this set though? I thought that at least Mojo or Q would have a review, but nada.

Agree with rd, the song selection is pitched just right, but why no reviews? No wonder Prince can be accused of being paranoid - who says there's no conspiracy when everyone is out to get you?

OK where the hell did you see 'em at? Cause I'll beat a damn path there ASAP! I got my copy from NPGMC but I have some friends who aren't as lucky as I am that would like to have it and I want to get them one as a gift. Plus I need a just-in-case copy for myself.

Now I got to go break out a map and see if I can find Cullowhee. Hell I can't beleive there is a town I haven;t been to in NC.

Luv 2 U all!
LOTS OF LUV 2 U ALL !!!
