Dreamer is a good song but I think it loses a bit of its quality after the first verse. The first verse has a special feel to it that the rest of the song doesn't have to that extent.

I'm Yours (For You album)
Bambi (Prince album)
are 2 heavy metal songs, in the style of 70s metal, maybe when u hear "this song is heavy metal" u expect it to sound like 80s, 90s or todays metal.

Darling Nikki is the heavy metal track from the Purple Rain album.

http://www.answers.com/to...rain-album
"Let's Go Crazy" is a furious blend of metallic guitars, Stonesy riffs, and a hard funk backbeat.

The Cross is Heavy Metal Gospel.

You just can't see it. Lenny Kravitz guitar playing and singing sucks, he can't sing or play live, he does, but he sucks live. Prince has done harder songs than Are you gonna go my Way in his albums and also performs in his concerts heavy metal songs by other others like Gotta Whole Lotta Love Led Zeppelin's biggest hit.

Interactive is really hard rocking song
Bambi is hard gritty rocker
and darling Nikki is rocking really hard and dirty
Foo Fighters recorded their version.
Prince is assosiated with fat
grooves in his music so naturally his rock songs have harder edge
sometimes he does pop rock but i think of Prince sound closer to a hard rock genre

Half the songs people are listing are more pop rock.

Prince has never put true rock out as a studio recording yet. I'd say his hardest blues rock playing to date is Dreamer and Temptation.

Deamer is a shamelss copy of a Voodoo Child / Whole lotta love mash up. (but I like it)

"Motherless Child" from Septimo has P's heaviest guitar bit in the middle there.

One of my favorite Prince performances.

Just to set the record straight Prince doesn't & most likely won't do metal. As much I'd love him to do some metal rock I don't think it's gonna happen. He's done some good rock songs but it's all been very far from being heavy metal.

Dreamer is rocking, sure, but its also a lesser take on Voodoo Chile and it
doesnt hit me as HARD as the following songs:

Endorphinmachine ('AC/DC meets JB'...great power-riffs, great scream and great to play really LOUD on the stereo)

Temptation (its more psyched out electro-blues then hardrock, but that guitarsolo is probably the hardest / rawest one he ever did on record)

200 Balloons (its a funk-pop composition, but a rock-song in its production and delivery: it has probably the hardest beat of all of his songs, and especially during the extended part its as raw and in-your-face as any good rocksong).

Da Bang (bluesy verses combined with an almost alternative-rock like chorus... Hit me niggers!)

Chaos and Disorder / I Like it there / Zannalee (energetic, stripped down bluesy influenced rocksongs from an underrated album. I like the guitar-playing on this album a lot better then that on Lotusflower).

I think he was ragin' a little that night. What ever was pissing him off sure made for some great music.

By FAR, the hardest Rock song he's released on album.

His nods 2 Hendrix on this, and elsewhere on the album, are respectable and intentional... and it's still all Prince.

Also, "Dreamer" is really nothing like "Voodoo Child"... I was a Hendrix freak before a Prince freak, and play guitar among other things, just 2 point that out. The intro (that repeats in the song) is reminiscent perhaps, but even those sections are different.

Nope, that title does to Endorphinmachine...Guitar is crap. Pop with guitars. You kidding me? Do you ever KNOW Rock???

Whilst true, it is still a very clear nod, but he's changed it all enough. And the main refrain is multi-tracked guitar lushness, whereas Jimi's was just the one line.

Heeckkk yes it IS! headbang
Dreamer spins circles around any other hard rock song of his.

Let's Go Crazy is the only one that comes pretty dang close to it.

But Endorphine Machine? lol No way. That tune is leaning farther on the electrinic pop side.
Bambi, as amazing as it is, can't compare due to it's sheer simplicity and repitition.

Okay if Bambi and Dreamer's release dates were reversed, you wouldn't be doubling down on that.
Bambi has half of the riffage containted in explosive Dreamer.
Dreamer is the song you blast in a stereo and capture attention & turning heads. Bambi has pop elements whereas Dreamer is just cut edge blues injected rock n roll !
