This is the CD that got me into Prince (I just turned 21). My 'rents bought it for me when it came out. This CD, along with a teacher in high school who was wicked into Prince, are what started me on the man's music.
On the one ya'll say housequake, top of your body let me hear ya shout!

Favorite Tracks: Musicology, A Million Days, Cinnamon Girl, The Marrying Kind/If Eye Was The Man In Your Life (Always listen to them back to back, should be one track!), and Reflection. I have to say I did not like Cinnamon Girl at first and the video to that track was a bit disturbing. Edmonton, AB - |

I'm sure I've made a thread about it before, prolly on HQ, but Illusion, Coma has some of Prince's greatest guitar playing on it. Too bad most people skip over this one!

Really??? I feel I want to dance in the subway with this song! CerpinTaxt said: Listen to the guitar licks at the end. He IS the horn section. You're so right about the guitar! But I'm a sucker for the vocals also! And this song bears the weirdest title I've ever come across by far! I am but mad north-northwest

Time is now showing that Prince's music holds up very well. Evne - or especially - discs that a lot here thought were weak to begin with.

I dusted off Musicology as well a few weeks ago. I loved it when it came out and love it more now. Its a great album. Don't understand why people don't like it... We're gonna need a bigger boat

This is one of my fave cds. I think Call My Name, Musicology, A Million Days are a few of my fave tracks. And of course watching the Musicology video those are indeed a few of the best tracks on there. my personal fav tracks: a million days call my name what do u want me 2 do? reflection i still consider the album as a whole one of my least favorit prince discs. together with planet earth they contain the least songs i actually like. but, the songs that i do like on musicology are of a very high standard imo. the contrast between the songs is just so big for me that it still amazes me i could like one half of an album so much and the other half so little. sometimes i listen to it all the way trough and go i was born with the wrong sign, in the wrong house, with the wrong ascendancy

i started to listen again too...then Musicology came on and i said to myself its so slow ...it was so slow i had to turn it off before the song was finished .then i jumped by going to reflection and a million days...but that was all i listed to then.

Its a decent album, 7 out of 10, but no way a Prince essential.

I Love it...I listen to this album frequently. Once a month probably. Last Night, I spent another lonely Christmas...Darlin' Darlin' U shoulda been there.~Prince.

This album breaks no new ground in my opinion but I will take it over Planet Earth in a second. Listen to it on a very expensive car stereo system if you get a chance. You can really hear all the layers Prince put into it. It is a masterpiece in that regard. Some of the songs are just plain awful though.

Two weeks ago I was at a club when they suddenly started playing ICP&C. Everybody on the floor started grooving to it. It was cool. Love this album. Should not have released Cinnamon Girl, however.

True, but when was the last time Prince released a strong, radio friendly song from an album as the single? On the one ya'll say housequake, top of your body let me hear ya shout!

what songs are awful on it? The only 1 I don't care for is "life o' th' party" and even that isn't awful with a good stereo. The rest is quality though. small circles, big wheels!

True, but when was the last time Prince released a strong, radio friendly song from an album as the single? Call My Name was big on R&B radio - both Urban and Urban AC formats. To me, the big mistake of that "era" was not following up CMN with another single directed towards the R&B audience. He had so many from that album that would have been big, such as Man In Ur Life, Dear Mr. Man, On the Couch, Reflection. All of those songs would have had similar success (Top 100 Pop, Top 20 R&B). Instead, he pushed Cinnamon Girl for Hot AC radio. Although I like the song and video, it was a mistake. Still, the album was a success, which was great.

I think Musicology is my favorite Prince album this decade. "The sun, the kiss, the funk for a bliss.

audience1, you make a good point. the r&b cuts were definitely stronger and more radio friendly. it's weird it's like at this point P don't really care if he makes a hit on the radio or not but in a way we all want him to get another hit! On the one ya'll say housequake, top of your body let me hear ya shout!
