I was always partial to America, Girl, Hello & La La La He He Hee.
Recently discovered the bootleg I Would Die 4 u that runs 26 plus minutes and love it to death!
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Yeah, that one was awesome!

Lines like...

"Ow! Put Your Foot On The Rock! Sock It! Sock It! Sock It! Don't You Stop It Baby!"

and...

"Somebody Get Grandma A Man!"

Nuts!

That chant is awesome, imagine it live!

That Camille Bass solo with the chant "play that thang!"....seriously, its too much.

I always thought it was "Someone get Grandma a bath"...I'm either an idiot or wrote a better line than Prince.

Honey, I visit my 12" collection all the time. It's been ripped from vinyl and is in my iTunes.

There is no studio version of Alexa de Paris shorter or longer than 4:54 - unless it is on some uber-rare bootleg.

But then, had you visited your 12" collection recently, you would know that.

I suppose you'd have to take that up with Prince and WB. Obviously you know more than Prince. Who knew?!

I have always thought that the 12" version was extended (as noted on the record) relative to the movie version. Regardless...as ernestwell states...Prince called it the extended version and I think he would be the expert on the topic.

The US 45 for "Mountains" has a shorter version of "Alexa De Paris" on the B-side that only clocked in at 3:20, so, yes, there is an extended mix on the 12".
Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

Little Red Corvette (love the bass and rhythm guitar breakdown section and the "velvet sweat" speech part)
Mountains (the last part of the track from 4 mins or so onwards with the synthesised horn keyboard lines. Anyone ever thought that the extended outro portion of Alright by Janet Jackson (Jam and Lewis production) sounds very very similar (I'm probably thinking of the video version when Janet and her dancers are all in the street while everyone takes their turn dancing).
Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

Unlike many I prefer the album version of Mountains to the 12" except for the instrumental part.

Favourite would have to be Kiss.

That is a classic but I guess people are concentrating on Extended Mixes rather than remixes. cool

favorite is la la la he he hee
anotherloverholenyohead
i wish u heaven
kiss
america
thieves in the temple
let's go crazy
she's always in my hair

but 2 b honest, it's hard 2 say what's really xtended in some instances cause if u listen 2 she's always in my hair and la la la, it seems like it was just the proper length of the track, with the edited versions available 4 7" singles.

something obvious like kiss, anotherloverholenyohead where it's like another recording session then mixed in2 the xtended version
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Faves

1) I wish U Heaven - worst choice for a single off that CD but the best extended version. I was not ready for that one. It also was the first extended version I bought with my own cash.
2) La, La, La, He, he, he - I have a memory of my uncles studing the cover and swearing that Cat was prince in drag. But that groove was so relentless.
3) Kiss - too many reasons to list.
4) Computer Blues (unreleased version) - I finally know what the words on the covers mean!! LOL

Least Favs -
1) Mountains - That snares drives me insane!
2) america - I really don't get why people love this one so much it seems to just repeat. Maybe I will give it another listen since it is getting so much love. It just seems to be the same groove just looped

It ain't looped, it's them playing live, and the tape literally ran out just before the song fades (I think they should have left that in actually). It's one thing to listen to that, but to jam on something for 28 minutes is another. I can see why he'd leave the whole thing on the record. He said "It felt good to play, so maybe it'll feel good to listen to." I can appreciate the jam/vamp nature of it from a band stand point, for sure.

i think the my name is prince extended is pretty cool, its a bit frustrating listening to some remixes and extended versions because some of them can be a bit sloppily mixed, look at the lets work extended, the crowd sounds, annie christian samples etc, i done my own mixes cutting out the crap and they benefit greatly!
All u haters need to recognize, if u cant c right through these lies, good gawd!

Older:
"Little Red Corvette" Nd "Lets Work"
(the Base lines alone on these 2 Xtendeds gives that "Feeling")

Newer:
"Come On", "Pretty Man", Nd "Gett Off"
(just overall types of Kool)

Also:
"Let it Go (Sherm Stick Edit)" Nd "Get Loose" (gotta drop this on the mix after "Dance 4 Me" Nd B4 "Loose!")... (.. However... Not sure if these count as Xtendeds?)

music

Would Love 2 hear N Xtended version of "I Wonder U" tho.

cool

The Paisley Park extended is biggest victim of this. You can hear where the tape is spliced. ( A bit off topic but the Time's 'I don't wanna leave U' At the end is worst offender of bad tech , actually ' If the Kid can't make you come' as well.)
