If he did fought Warner over the clearance of the When Doves Cry sample 4 the song Pray and lost, it was still a win anyway. I don't think he fought over tha issue, I don't see y would he would have an issue anyway. Besides, Prince got paid 4 those samples that Hammer used on that album 'Please Hammer Don't Hurt Em'. He even invited Hammer and let him use Paisley Park during that time 2 rehearse 4 his tour.

as the songwriter, he had to give the go ahead for it. of course, this was before suing over rap tracks that ripped off old songs became such a hotbed legal issue.

It's amazing to me that if he did fight WB over that sample, that he didn't have more control over his music in 1990, 13 years after starting in the business.

Remember, MC Hammer also used a liberal sample of "Soft and Wet" on that same album. So if Prince was mad, he was doubly so. But I bet he wasn't bitching when those royalty checks came rolling in. Reminds me of Rick James fighting over "Superfreak", then shut up when he started getting checks. The same with The Pretenders bitching cuz Rush Limbaugh was using one of their songs as a theme song. Then they got the royalty payments, and all was quiet on the Pretender home front.

All of these "rappers" should be forced to pull up their pants and stop waddling around the hood like the penguins from "Happy Feet" for desacrating Prince's music!
