He could rework those looks now and it will never get old
There were so many styles and pieces that I don't think we even saw most of it

It was the Parade era. Prince right now still looks good, but is that hair.

For me, I think 1982/1983 is the quintessential Prince - not quite os OTT as PR but funky and sexy and slightly menacing . A close second would be 1987 during SOTT where he looked a bit like Adam Ant or had an updated Controversy look- much better than a year later for Lovesexy.

I think the peak was during the Lovesexy tour, 1st half, when he had the regular guitar and a black and white robin hood looking outfit with the George Washington style hair and big eyebrows. People I know that are irritated by Prince seem to think that this look (despite being odd)... is actually quite cool. Not to mention he sat cooly and plays a lot of impressive guitar (with punk rock intensity) and sometimes had the word "SOUND" written up an arm.

82-83, all of the 1999 the full band shot on the jacket/sleeve captured it. That is the only look that coincided with the "His Royal Badness"tag. The Edwardian gear wasnt overdone, traces of punk and futuristic "shinyness". Purple Rain ushered in too much lace, and paisley crap LOL. Everything after that is disjointed and nowhere near as epic as the 82-83 look. That was the look that most MTV viewers saw for the first time, purple rain made him an icon but it was the begginning of the end as far as Prince having a badass look.

Graffiti Bridge look is my favorite.

Did Prince's hairstylist have the day off? He was wrong for this. it doesn't get any worse than a wig with split ends. Not a good look. I love his toned down GB looks as well as his Versace suits. I also like the "infamous" canary yellow VMA awards suit with the booty cut out.

1986 I think, the whole parade cut back croptop look, made him look so cutting edge and the cut back paisley robe. Totally debonair. He also had the yellow and red suits with the shoulder pads (On the Mountains cover)

I'd say the 1985/86 MTV Interview - his first down for the Under the Cherry Moon promotion.

That was the peak of "Prince" strange weird and just interestingly amazing!
