Sleep Around - Appreciation.

What a banging tune Sleep Around is. I have edited my version down to 4 and half minutes just before the breakdown and i have re-edited the opening onto the end was well so its complete. Its rocking tune. I wish that was a club hit would be awesome!

Its funny its taken 13 years for me to discover that song. used to hear the opening and think it sounded crap however i do what i sometimes do and make myself listen to songs i dont dig and usually it turns out that i then cant get enough of them.

Does anyone think this could have been a massive hit?

Man I totally know what you mean! I used to skip from 'Style' straight to 'One Of Us'. After I listened to the whole thing, it became a permanent part of the rotation. I love the melody.
Isn't the expression on my complexion enough?

I do love this song..."do it like she like it, so your baby won't wanna sleep around."

What is interesting about this, is sometimes a man can hurt U so badly that it wouldn't even cross your mind to look for love somewhere else... cool

I love the horns on this song. It definitely should have been a single instead of "Face Down".

I must say that this particular song resonated with me upon first listen. I love the flavor it has and it's a definite booty shaker. It would be nice to know if this song received any love in the clubs at the time.

I agree that it should be shorter. I really get the feel that some of those songs are longer, or have a tag ending on them (Jam Of the Year, White Mansion, Damned If I Do, In This Bed I Scream, etc) simply to push that disk to an even 60 minutes. In fact, if you take a few songs out, a whittle a few others down in size, it's a perfect 1 or 2 disk set. It's not that far off anyway.

3 x 60 = 180

2 x 80 (a FULL disk) = 160

Take out 20 minutes of music, and BAM, There ya go.

Same goes with Crystal Ball. SO much wasted space in lieu of "WOW, a THREE disk set."

I definitely agree about CB. It should have had a few more songs. Not to mention, P is a man that is known for recording lots of material, yet we got several songs that we already had. Come on, "Good Love" should NOT have been on there at all.

Wasn't "Good Love" a slightly different version? I always heard there were two different versions of this song, but I have no clue. (It's taken me YEARS to really LIKE this song.)

But yes, LOTS of rehash on that. We don't need REMIXES (most of which were dreadful, except "So Dark"). He said on Larry King that he was "trying to clean up" the bootleg market a bit. He wasn't even using 2-ply.

Yes. He changed it up a bit to include the word "Oprah", too.

Good song, musically very interesting, a complete story book so to speak, although I don't find the lyrics very striking.

I really love the percussion part and wish that had been more prominent.Cutting some of the lyrics and putting in more percussion & fewer horns would have made it perfect for me. biggrin
