the first ones that come to my mind are "first avenue" which should have a website ... or you can get the addy quite easiy thru a search ...

and Paisley Park - which isnt too far from Minneapolis - just down the road at the Chanhassen exit .... (10 min?)

some of the other orgers might have some nice insight as far as where he lives .... his old house on the lake (that had been purple at one time) ... not sure what others ...
Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet.

Paisley Park is beside a highway called "Arboretum" (origin of the song?): go there by car. I was there two weeks ago: I would highly recommend First Avenue and The Hard Rock Cafe (check pictures at "Remember These Walls" topic). In Minneapolis ther's no much worth 2 see. Go in Uptown, funny place with many restaurants, and a "Wrecka Stow" called "Cheapo" I think, with vinyls sealed with good price...

More 2 come...

Go to Bunkers Downtown on Monday nights. 9pm. Dr. Mambo's Combo plays. Ex - band members and you never know who might show up.Johny Lang did one night.

Talk to people...most everyone in town knows someone or has a story or affiliation.

You might also try the Epic night club, use to be the old Glam Slam. Also Envy - dance club Prince has been there a couple of times, don't count on him...but you'll get the flavor of some MPLS vibe.

Paisley Park is a good 25-30 minutes from downtown MPLS, on hwy 5. The Arboretum is the name of a "public garden" farther down off hwy 5, no affiliation with Prince. Both of his old houses have been flattened. Uptown is the gay capital of Minnesota!

It is???

Granted I'm relatively new to the city, but I never got that impression. I might spot some sugar on the street every now and then, but Uptown is no Chelsea or Boystown. confused

You could check out the house from Purple Rain at 3420 Snelling Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN. Owners have changed the front since 1983, but it still looks mostly the same.

Unfortunately not, but I assure you we are all over Uptown.

She saw me walking down the streets
Of your fine city
It kinda turned me on when she looked at me
And said, "C'mere"
Now I don't usually talk to strangers
But she looked so pretty
What can I lose,
If I, uh, just give her a little ear?
"What's up little girl?"
"I ain't got time to play."
Baby didn't say too much
She said, "Are you gay?"
Kinda took me by suprise
I didn't know what to do
I just looked her in her eyes
And I said, "No, are u?"

The Loring Park area, just a bit south of downtown, seems to be the most gay friendly. Uptown? Well, it's a name of a Prince song.

Prince used to frequent Rudolph's BBQ, which is on Lyndale & Franklin (this was ages ago, though--a friend of mine used to waitress there). I think First Avenue is your best and only bet, to be honest. Paisley Park isn't that close to Mpls. Prince had more of a presence here in the 80s & 90s, I feel. But, I am glad to hear he's spending more time here again.

You should at least drive by Paisley Park, in Chanhassen at Hwy. 5 and Audobon Rd., just to see what it looks like.

His apartment is there - he bulldozed the house he owned by there. It went to the ex in the divorce settlement and instead of letting her have it, he had it bulldozed.
