Kiss / Love or Money on iTunes I'm sorry if this has already been posted, I did a search and didn't see anything. But I noticed on iTunes today in the top banner there is a new feature called "Digital 45s" and the first thing that popped up when you click the banner is Prince's "Kiss" single, along with its b-side "Love or Money"
As far as I'm aware, this is the first time "Love or Money" is available in any non-vinyl format, correct? Anyway, just wanted to alert people that it's now there to d/load. It sounds great without the scratches from my old 45!! * * *

There's a related press article about them just a week or so ago.

luckily some of them were released on the Ultimate Prince collection a couple years back, but it would definitely be nice to have the ones that were missing. * * *

I guess these were released both on vinyl and digital downloads as well ? credit: pic is from Housequake.com (I think posted by Toto(?) ) [Edited 7/21/09 17:43pm] Prince 4Ever.

In honor of the digital 45, I updated my Prince number one singles web page. Unfortunately for Prince, he has not had not any number one singles since I last updated the page in 1999.

i'm happy, now i can add Love or Money to my playlist of Parade and the quality is actually good.
My version places Love or Money after Do You Lie, before Kiss. Anybody else add this track when listening to Parade, and if so, where do you place it (or where do you think it would have been placed had Prince included it on the album.) It's a short album, it seems more complete somehow with this song added. * * *

Ten of the 12 vinyl singles are still available for purchase through the Rhino UK website. The downloads are not available: http://www.rhino.co.uk/pr...t.htm?pg=1 ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. Not sure where in the world you are but I'm in the UK and the iTunes release of Kiss was removed iTunes UK so I had to go elsewhere and found it on 7digital. A word of warning - I think the quality of all these Digital 45s was dreadful. This track is particularly muffled. I am lucky enough to have all the kit, including the records themselves, to record them from vinyl to my PC. I hate the crackle of vinyl but a lot of it can be removed and frankly until someone remasters all this music (like on Ultimate) it's never going to sound very good digitally. PS I think the term Digital 45s applies to 7" and 12" - in the UK 12" singles were always 45rpm because the audio quality is better and as the running time is less than on a full length album the music fits at that speed.

Hence "Digital 45's", not "Digital 12"'s" This is kind of misleading, because even the 12" singles were 45 RPM. So they were technically "45s" too - as opposed to 33 1/3 RPM, which are referred to as LP (Long Play). But the concept of these is an affordable 2-song set that you'd see in a jukebox, which were definitely only the 7" versions.

I just downloaded, burned a CD and I'm listening right now. Cool!! Very good choice for a first digital 45 from Prince. Kiss is easily one of is most popular songs, and Love or $ was inexplicably excluded from both the Hits/B-Sides and Ultimate Prince. I think it sounds very good...right on the money.
