The interview was actually conducted prior to his show at Roseland in NYC during the Emancipation days. VH1 aired it a few times and may even offer up a copy if you get in touch with then right person over there. Chris Rock is a big Prince fan I remember seeing him at the premiere night of "Sign O' the Times" movie at a theater in Manhattan and he's a staple at most of Prince's shows in New York. i recall seeing him at Roseland and even at the Club Black gig after the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. yeah Chris really is a big fan of Prince, I've seen a lot of his standup and he has mentioned Prince many times, but in a good way and not dissing him, like he does with everyone else lol | |

I would really appreciate it It was a stupid, pointless interview, and Chris never got any real answers out of Prince. He did express more honestly than Tavis ever could, his discontent with some of Prince's stock, predictable answers. Like when Prince was asked if he could construct a band of his peers that he had never worked with, who would he chose. Prince responded with the obvious bullshit answer we all knew he would by insisting he'd work with the band members he had worked with--totally disregarding the intent of the question. Tavis would have just let it slide, but at least Chris said, "COme on, man! I knew you were gonna say that." Overall, there wasn't one interesting or truly heart-felt and honest piece of information revealed in the Interview. It was also the ridiculous interview in which he used the term "FAM" instead of fan, sparking years of embarrassing and annoying labels folks here at the org and other websites would and continue to use. What really made his interviews intolerable around that time was that even when musically focused magazines would ask him about his MUSIC, Prince gave stupid and strange religious answers instead of revealing anything remotely interesting about his song writing process. God, watching Wendy and Lisa's recent online interview only makes me wish Prince could let down his guard, loosen up his knickers, and let loose with something half as real. .
