writing everything..... producing everything..... playing everything..... to this day it still astounds me-and thats after almost 30 years of listening to his music i think alot of people have lost the wonderment of listening/seeing a man so prodigiously talented that he can do it all thats why i can only ever compare his music to....his music I know it's insane isn't it And to think that he did all this at the age of 19. Has there been another precedence in music history? Even when you list all the great musicians (Steve, Marvin, Aretha, Miles, Jimi) over the last century, they all had producers and songsmiths that helped them realize their early musical identities.

I certainly haven't forgotten the artistry of Prince's work. It isn't just that he was a one man band, it is that he was a phenomenal one man band who brought his "A game" to ever track including drums, guitar, bass and keyboards. I feel his minimalist in his early work is often lost in his more recent work. Back in the day, he knew what to leave out of a song as well as what to include.
Prince is still the total package.

Truth is as soon as Prince tried doing everything himself for real the music began to sound real average. He's still mega-talented, but that other world, next level thing he seemed to have going was all a fat lie. complete and utter pish, and b4 ye start tellin me all the tunes where prince didnt do it all, or start tellin me that partyup was a morris day tune n all the rhetoric that goes with it just please stop, i know it all and the statementu just made deserves to be abused as it is the statement of a fool What I said is not even controversial, yet you seem to really be upset by it. Prince did not write and play everything as we were led to believe. He often bullied people around him. He often stole songs from his "friends" and used his power in the business to intimidate people. We all know that by now. Subtract the material co-written or hijacked from others and the Prince catalog, while impressive, isn't nearly as baddass as we were led to believe. That's probably a factor in why we have not seen a full scale release of Vault material. A lot of the shit may not be his. [Edited 7/17/09 15:12pm]

There is indeed no one like him. I'm glad that I live in a time to experience and witness his talent.
