After all of this shutting down of the availability to Prince's music and videos. I fear it may only make others go underground to pass along Prince's music and videos and unfortunately make even more money off of Prince all together. It sort of balances itself out.
It just seems futile to chase such a fluid thing sometimes.IMHO
Leave it to Prince to take all of this on.
On the other hand it sure makes him much more "exclusive" and people will pay that much more to see him perform. Maybe he just wants to spread music the old fashioned way.

Like you say, it may be futile because everyone that wants it can get it, just like anything else that is not supposed to be available for consumers.,...that doest mean he should just roll over.
When people post that stuff out in the open and asked to take it down, why bitch.

I wouldn't exactly call that bullying.

They asked her to take it down. She did so.

Bullying would be if they made her life hell or something.

But, he was still a douche-bag for that. It's not like anyone would mistaken the quality of the video for the real thing, nor the youtube stream as a replacement for buying the CD. It takes a real turd sucker to not see that.

Things must have changed a lot! I thought copywriting was only having to give credit to the "artist/copywriter" whenever the music was used or mentioned. I don't download anything unless it's from Prince's membership websites. I'm not very good about how to do it and lost all of the music when he took down npgmusiclub. I miss my music that's all. Can you still use 7 bars of a song anymore?

When you have something for free, you don't appreciate it as much, or value it, this is one reason I connect with Prince,

I have worked hard for everything in my life, been through alot of struggles and accomplished alot, ALL ON MY OWN

Prince has also built up his empire from scratch, and he has earned a right to a say in his hard work, if that seems rude cause lots are used to instant gratification and free downloads, u have to see that the quality of music with Prince is not of that caliber..it's worth the money, it's worth the wait, it's worth the copyright rules of witch we should all respect twocents

It's interesting that MJ is all over the charts with his back catalog (ok he's dead and he won't get a penny) but, It proves people will still buy music (downloads and cds) if there is a big enough reason and apart from the consistent quality of the music and TV/concert performances, prince hasn't given the main population a reason to buy his music in the kind of amounts they used to.
There's no controversy anymore! and I know prince doesn't want to be that guy with assless pants anymore, but he's got to market himself better for the internet age and he's slipping big time. I believe he should allow his videos on YouTube as it's a great promotional tool, he's not bothered about the videos being on TV so why not the internet? they're called promos for effs sake!

And his site should be user friendly and have some free content to draw in casual surfers. 'nuff said.

Thank you someone finally has come out and said it. People have money to waste on a lot of other things that they want but if they can just go on line and download or listen to music for free they are not going to pay for it.

People are not spending money on music because they can rip if off for free. It is called being a cheap ass bastard all the time failing to realize that artist live off of their rolyaties which they are certainly not receiving very much these days.

Prince has not actually sued anyone yet so much as threaten to sue but I think he should go ahead and sue one of these sites and get it over with. Maybe it will drive the point home. Stop stealing and go buy the music if you like it.

I think after what happened a couple of weeks ago with the new laws going into effect about YouTube and other sites people will think twice about posting or downloading without permission.

Prince has not bullied me and I am a fan. If you are treating the man's product right then you have no worries about being bullied.

If the only thing that I had to live off of was my music then I would use every method I could to protect my source of income too.

I truly believe that Prince or any other artist would love to share vids and songs with the public but when you run and put shit out there for free like people were doing with npgmc stuff that's bullshit and not fair to the people who paid. I am not talking about sharing something with a friend. I am talking about wholesale posting just to say Fuck you ! That's wrong.

Damn you hit it on the head there! I have a co-worker who rips everything bit-torrent. He thinks he's so smart and almost talks down to you when you say you bought a CD. As if I couldn't download or find my music myself. There is still something good about buying a CD of an artist you've been looking forward to and getting the lyric book and all the little goodies that go with it. I miss the experience the record store use to be.

I will never understand this "Prince mistreats fans" theory. What is it that people want from him? Why is he obligated to allow people to use his copyrighted material in any way they see fit on the net? There are laws against it. Shouldnt the real gripe be with whoever made the laws that protect the rights of an artist and.or the owner of copyrighted material?

yeahthat When will they understand its not abut getting the songs for free. I just love having the CD and the lyric book and even the cover lol I get a small thrill out of being able to get my hands on an import in a music store that is hard to buy as well Everyone seems to be out for what they can get for noting, then they wonder why there are no, or few jobs around. I think everyone forgets that when u actually go out and buy a cd its not just the artist or the producers that get paid...it even goes back to the people working in the factories that make the cd's, the plastic covers and the sleeves, as well as the person the the music store employs to sell u the cd

Oh yeah I totally agree with people seeing how silly and immature Prince really is in his old age. And how he wouldn't be famous without his fans. I wouldn't say he wouldn't be anything, a nobody, because he is/was talented and he is/was capable of doing good work. But if not for his fans or anyone that has ever paid cash money for anything he's ever done or any little turd he shits out, that's right he wouldn't have the $$, the expensive shit, the fame, movies, women, etc. that he's had. He got lucky, put himself out there and got discovered.

And speaking of, it is a shame that Prince CAN'T KEEP A WIFE! OR A WOMAN FOR THAT MATTER lol lol lol . Think about it, who on Earth would want to constantly be with, put up, and life with a CONTROLLING, TIGHT WAD, MONEY & POWER HUNGRY, CHINCHY, PENNY PINCHING, OBSESSIVE & POSSESSIVE, THINKIN' THEY "HOLIER THAN THOU" TYPE OF BULLSHIT OF A MAN ANYWAYS??? Dick ain't that long enough for me.....sorry lol ! That shit would get real old real fast, no matter who you are! Prince has a bad past with women, why can't he make a relationship last for more than 5 year? Obviously his women is or were Prince fans so they are crazy about him from the get go, yet he can't get his shit together long enough to make a serious life-time committment?! Little man has got some serious issues, even without suing his fans! From experiences and stories, there are always something wrong with a man that can't keep a woman!

Usually you don't hear or see Prince anything on TV hardly anymore. On the radio I heard When Doves Cry the other day and The Most Beautiful...which surprised me because I hadn't heard that song played anywhere since it was released like 20 years ago. But those 2 were always some of my Prince favorites. They run Purple Rain to death on the Fuse channel and other channels. And I hope the Prince POPO won't catch me but when he does TV performances, interviews and videos I do RECORD them. In my own home, on my own TV, on my own VCR using my own tape. And I dare him to try and stop me! But as far as buying anything Prince related I hadn't in 6 years and it was some stuff from Ebay, nothing bought from anywhere else. The last 3 CD's I had before he released new ones this year (didn't dare buy those), they were pure trash, they should have went in the trash. It was Musicology and on up, don't even know the other 2 names. They were bought for me and Musicology was free from attending the concert sad. I was thinking about turning them into coasters for my drinks so I don't leave water rings on the table, or using them as frisbees or a cool mirror to keep in my car or purse. I will probably never spend/waste another dime on anything Prince related in my or his life. I was never into stealing any Prince stuff anyway, I don't download stuff or make CD or DVD out of it so everything I have was either bought for me or I purchased it myself safe and legally. I'm saving my money for those unreleased, never before heard Michael Jackson stuff, close to 200 songs! I heard it was stuff from "Off The Wall" days and on up. I can't wait! I'm sure it won't be no jazzy shitty elevator type shit.

Prince bullies fans that run websites too and has those jerked down? WOW! I'm surprised this one is still up if that's the case. What makes this one so special or different? Hearing garbage like this made Michael Jackson seem like a normal entertainer who appreciates and remembers and always gives back to his fans, who enjoys when people would buy his music, watch his videos/movies, take pictures, give autographs, get and KEEP his stuff out there, ALL THIS IS NORMAL. Trying to live like a hermit and act like you never had a music career outside of 2009 is plain weird. It's like he's the one ashamed of himself and his past, and he wants to erase it or act like it never happened or wants people to not remember it. Maybe he doesn't want people to remember he's the one who's had a nose job also lol ! Too late for that, it was so obvious.

I don't know a damn thing or give a rat's hairy ass about "bootlegs" and whatever. Is that stuff that people were never meant to hear or see? OR things never meant to be released? The only thing I know about bootlegs is when I zip my sexy furry boots up my legs. That's all I know or have ever heard that termination of "bootleg". Can anyone please advise on the subject?

I didn't read everything you typed, but you need Prozac and a hug!!!

Stop taking stupid shit like this personal, because it's not.

As far as him not being able to keep a wife. Have you actually been in his house? Have you spoken to any of his ex-wives?

You don't see Prince on T.V. or hear any of his songs on the radio like you used to because he's 51 years old and the music industry has always been a young man's game.

Prince doesn't owe his fans shit!!! Nobody made you buy any of his CD's. All he does is provide a product, which is what his music is. You can choose to purchase that product or not.

I don't see you going on Wal-Mart's website bitching at them because they raised the price of a bag of Cheetos!!!

You seem to have a lot to say, but you haven't actually said anything that makes sense!!!

You probably just like the clicking sound your fingers make on the keyboard.

Paris, calm the fuck down! Shit. I with you except the wife thing. Prince is known for being controlling, needy, manipulative, and just downright creepy boxed As for him being a bully....at times yes but still he just wants some money so he won't die broke. What some people fail 2 realize is that artist Do Not get money from record sales they have to pay back the people who helped with the album. Tours and stuff is the things that gets the money in the pocket.

Someone may have mentioned this, I didn't read through this whole thread BUT:

He is talking about Universal Records, then he holds up the "Rave un2 the joy fantastic" CD which was on Arista. He also talks about the mom getting her video taken down, that was "Let's go crazy" (If I remember correctly) which was on Warner Brothers. Universal has nothing to do with those albums. Just something I noticed.
Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

If you think it's OK to steal from someone just because they are rich, then you have a weird sense of right and wrong.

And what about all the other artists you steal from? How do you know they are not living paycheck-to-paycheck.

If you take something without paying for it, that is stealing. No other way to say it.

Well, my favourite artists are Beyonce, Britney, Prince and Michael Jackson.

One is deceased, and I have purchased most of his work already, like I said I will buy if I love.

Two are two of the highest paid females in the industry, with one currently having the best selling tour in the USA and 3rd best in the world, even in the economic crisis. The other earned around 80 million last year. I've bought most of their work too, except their most recent efforts since I didn't enjoy them much. I have VIP tickets to two of Britney's concerts which I can assure you did not come cheap.

The other one charges over $3000 to see him live and does photo shoots from inside his lush Hollywood mansion. He also seems to despise his earlier songs now so what's wrong with me acquiring them? If he doesn't want to love his own work, I will. I'm just not paying a cent for his crappy new material and it's impossible to find his old work now and since he refuses to be proactive about keeping it out there, that's the way it is.

Stealing is stealing, no matter how you feel about the one from whom you are stealing.

You didn't make any distinction in your original post about WHO you were stealing from - the way you put it, you steal EVERYONE'S releases, and then decide later if you want to pay for it.

You're an adult, you should be able to figure out the difference between right and wrong.

What difference does it make as long as I buy eventually?

Again, I shouldn't have to pay for something I don't know if I'm gonna like or not. You don't buy clothes for over $30 in the HOPE that maybe you'll like it and it'll fit right. You try it on first, see if it's worth your money. Same with music, for me.
