Former Prince fans?

Hiya!
Are there any "former" Prince fans here---people who used to be fans but not so much anymore?

im seriously struggling at the moment. I REALLY really wanna not come here-not cuz i don't like it-cuz i do.

BUT

I am aware that ALL my posts are slagging off Lotus-which in itself has meant-i haven't even listened to the music for a couple of weeks. All the web shit has ruined the music-what i mean is i don't wanna spend ALL my time on a downer and listening to the albums just reminds me of all the shit. In fact any Prince is out at the moment. I have to be on the pc alot for work-so can't resist coming here-but other than that-he dosen't enter my mind-and for me thats rare-since my Hohner Artist sits across the room from me and my concert tix are all framed up the stairs-i've actually taken them down this afternoon

I genuinely feel cheated/ripped off

and man is the silence from them pure ignorance to me. Sooooo annoying

so at the moment-im probably 50% hater, 25% fan and 25% stuck in a habit i've had for over 25 years

and if im completely honest-im not even sure he can do ANYTHING to make it up.Its been handled SOOOOO badly and a shocking way to treat us

crazy .this time last year-i'd have probably been on Housequake-telling Symbolism to stop having a go at Prince-and anyone else that dared lol

man how things can change in a year

polkadotbliss, I have to agree with you 100%. I've been a longtime fan, and the dude just keeps making it harder to remain a fan. I'm not talking about the "Prince is the Greatest, can do no wrong-The Rainbow Children is the Greatest Thing EVER"fan, but I've kept up with his music for a long time and he has been seriously alienating his supporters. and yah, close2u, you know how to "keep it real"
So I am glad that someone here knows what I'm feeling without being a total douche about it.

I'm not so much offended as I am surprised that one would say that someone else "wasn't a fan to begin with". Who are you to judge who is a fan and who isn't? That is what I am put off by. Ppl are too judgemental and self-righteous, if that is what you call "keeping it real".

No one is hating Prince either. My original post was to provide some thought-provoking conversation about why you do or don't continue to listen to or support Prince. No wonder why Prince has such a huge ego--people think he can do no wrong, and as soon as someone says something to the contrary, all of a sudden we are "mean". get a grip.

Ganesh, I do understand your point of view. Prince can do what he wants to do (which he obviously does),but when you treat your fans like crap (the very fans who put him on the map, without fans he'd be a nobody), you can't expect them to stay around forever.
Look at Michael Jackson, who was more famous and internationally known than Prince. Over the years, he has NEVER spurnned his fans, and he has always went out of his way to be nice to his fans. Prince could (but he probably won't) learn a thing or two about biting the hand that feeds him.

What does he do to his fans? or did? because of "housequake"? because of what else?
Some fans act just to satisfy their own "need" of having extra songs unheard or bootlegs, a T shirt, or whatsoever..Don't they interfere within his work, because, being a musician and making his music is also a kind of work, so his aim is to make money out of it, eventually..
Using his image without his autorisation is not fair towards him..
Comparing Michael to him is just to me, not balanced, MJ was thrown in "dust bin" when some put him on trial and his "former" or actual fans turned their back to him, without even know the exact and real facts!!pfff
When we know the real motivations concerning Prince we'll say "oooooh dear, we didn't know, soo sorry!"
