Purple rain/God US 45 was never pressed on black vinyl, EVERY copy is purple. It's NOT rare at all, sorry.

Maybe my idea of rare is different then others because I have been collecting for over 20 years. What is important with collectibles is that YOU love them, don't worry about whether they are rare or not. To get a rare item is cool but it can be cool to get some easy to come by stuff that you've never had too.

I found the Gold Experience on CD when it came out, it was mass produced. Not that rare. Go to a used CD store, shouldn't be hard to find. The vinyl of it is great to have. I mentioned that. The albums for "Rave" and "Grafiti" are nice too. None of the other stuff is that hard to come by, especially the 45. There is always about 20 of them on e-bay at any time You asked if any of this is rare and yet everyone gets mad when someone tells the truth and says not really. That doesn't mean they aren't nice to have. I have most of those items in my collection.

Thats the only advantage being here in New Zealand, nobody knows what a good Prince collectable is. I got a Gold Experience CD for $2(I don't think it had ever been played) and my greatest treasure cost nothing, I was at a Rave party sometime in the mid 90s (96 I think) and was dancing to some acid music in a tent that was covered in rope net and someone had tied old 45 singles to it, I noticed I was dancing next to a vinyl 45 of 1999/How come u don't call me anymore. Without thinking in a second, I liberated that piece of vinyl from its ignomious fate. It was a bit warped but still played well. My favourite treasure to this day. Its probably worth nothing either, but another good collectable was the Crystal Ball set for $10 I got earlier this year and a copy of Rave for $1.50
