Prince Covers

Over the years, I've enjoyed Prince's covers. Right now, I'm listening to "Creep". I also like "Crimson & Clover" & "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" (would love to find MP3). What's your favorite Prince cover? What Prince cover are you interested in but haven't heard yet?

"I Can't Make You Love Me" is the worst. The whole rap about "bedsroom slash church" is embarrassing to an otherwise great song. George Michaels' version is the best.

Prince's best cover is, if it exists, "Like A Prayer". Long rumored, and I wanna know/hear/experience/judge-the-fuck-out-of it.

Most of the other covers on Emancipation weren't bad though.

What? Prince covering "Like A Prayer"? Where did you hear he covered that song & when did he cover the song?

Prince has done lots of live covers. I would love to hear (Got 2) Give It Up. Yes. Officially released there aren't many covers so perhaps I'll pass on the CD.

Anyone else dig "Whole Lotta Love" from the Alladin DVD?

That would be great to hear Prince sing "I"m down on my knees, I want to take you there." LOL My favorite live cover would have to be Just My Imagination from the infamous Lovesexy aftershow. One Of Us is another great cover. Although it is much better live than on cd, as is most of his songs in my opinion.

Reread the original post, last sentence. Ergo, my answer. Otherwise, I dig "Betcha By Golly" and "La La Means I Love You". Great old songs.

Didn't he do a part of Patti Page's "How much is that doggie in the window" years ago? I think I recall having it on a bootleg.

He used part of that in a segment on the Hit N Run tour in 1986. It was kind of used as a segue or an intro to another song.

I remember being at Paisley Park on night back in 96 or 97 and they played a recording of Prince covering "Fight the Power" by Public Enemy. I can't remember much about it, other than I thought it was the sh-- and that I knew I'd never hear it again.

I totally forgot that P recorded a cover of Fight The Power. Add this to the unreleased stuff that I would love to hear.

Who rapped on the track? Prince?
