The rumor is Confirmed

One speaks for some time about the arrival of Prince in Montreux Jazz Festival on July 18th for three concerts the same evening. It should do only one in an original decoration of them…

Started from sites of fans, the rumor had not ceased swelling the last month. The organizers of Montreux Jazz Festival had then confirmed to be under discussion with the management of Prince to invite him on July 18th after a passage surprised noticed in 2007.

Questioned today by Patrick in his emission “Presque Rien Presque Tout”, Claude Nobs explained the history of the negotiations always in progress: “Prince had asked to me whether it could come to Montreux this year to make three concerts in succession with three orchestras in three different rooms. As I do not like to say not - me was even called `Claude Nothing is Impossible Nobs' - I said one will see. One started to look with all staff and one saw that it was possible but for a rather considerable budget. And then, that has drag. The first negotiations date from April. Then the contract was sent. Prince said `yes, but I do not want television'. Then, `yes but I want cameras 35mm', which is financially impossible, when it is known that the budget in the concert of Rolling Stones in New York filmed by Scorsese was over 20 million dollars. for only one concert whereas there he wanted three of them. I finally succeeded in convincing it that the High-definition was sufficient”.

But as with a star one is never safe from a reversal of last minute, Prince changed opinion at the beginning of week. “He said to me that he did not want not to make any more but one concert and another concept. He sent to me a video of Ellen Degeneres show where he is in an environment of a species of kitchen of countryside and he makes his show in it”, explained Claude Nobs.

As for the owner of Montreux Jazz that does not pose any problem “to make a kitchen from countryside to Montreux”, a new budget and an new agreement were carried out and sent to Prince and his management.

Claude Nobs explained at the time interview to await it an answer for the weekend. But it was without taking into account the death of Michael Jackson who strongly shook the world and particularly the United States.

Bad english transformation but its good news to hear this confirmed. Im glad he changed his mind from the 3 concerts 3 venues to focusing on one. Rather one spectatular event than spreading oneself too thin with 3.
