I just got back from Target too. The rack that LotusFlow3r used to occupy 100% is now shared by Black Eye Peas and random Michael Jackson CDs. It was bound to happen.

3 months - not bad.

i just got back from the states & picked up a copy from the target shop in LA but i had to hunt 4 the bugger. the cd's were designated to the end of a rack..no razzamataz or floor stickers, just prince having 2 share space with some obscure band sad

Store displays are only allowed to stay up a certain amount of time, things have to be changed constantly to make room for the newer things coming in and after a certain amount of time, the things moved back HAVE to go on sale. that's merchandising. Lotusflow3r is a great CD. biggrin

Several of the Target stores in Minneapolis/St. Paul have just put up newer, giant, red light box poster/displays that say Prince and seem to be a still shot from the Target commercial. They are awesome looking.

Bottom line is that there needed to be a decent single and radio play in order for the "casual fan" to pick up the new CD. There is some decent stuff on the discs but due to his way of doing business it does not avail his work to commercial success. And if he is OK with that then it is what it is and us hardcore fans can listen and enjoy and know what we have. I do have to admit that I would get enjoyment out of him having some commercial success from some new stuff. I don't know if that is wrong or not.

BriaVelveeta

I was at Target yesterday and I saw Bria Valente selling them out of the trunk of a Honda Civic. She had several cases of them.

She also had some Lotusflow3r 'Founding Member' T-shirts 3 for $5.

As soon as my daughter said that there was a commerical of Prince singing. I broke open the PIGGY BANK and bought it that same day. After getting it, I can't listen to this or any of his music. My husband died almost 7 months ago. So, I am still not emotionally ready to hear Prince just yet. Overall, it is a nice and enjoyable album to listen to or study with...There is a song called Colonized Mind. It makes me cry and sometimes I can't stop crying because it reminds me of my husband.

You know Target is going to be on TMZ dumping truck loads of unsold LF cd's in some field.

You know.....Prince can't get mad because he does like 3-4 TV spots and that is it. Times are different....you can't just drop a CD and it's going to sell. You need to hit the TV shows, internet, youtubes, drop vidoes (GETT OFF MAXI video), he just doesn't do enough. Singing a few songs on Leno that no one knows except for us isn't going to grab the non-prince fans attention. Tavis Smily show isn't going to grab folks. The Arsenio Hall show in '91 grab people and pulled them in....that is why Diamonds and Pearls was the last CD non traditional Prince fans purchased.

Happy 4th everyone.

In this era of not having a music industry. This Target Project did really well! Plus Prince getting the lions share of the money - he did really really well!

No mtv, no vh1, not allot of radio play.. only Jay Leno and a few commercials and he was really #1.

Thats good!

if i'm target i'm THRILLED at lotusflow3r sales. they sold 350,000 copies at $11.98 each. i'm guessing they didn't sell 350,000 of any kind of merchandise in a 90 day stretch, except bread milk and toilet paper.

This is most likely true.....however how much did they have to pay the wee purple pixie for the honour?
