Only his family and those close to him would be expected to make a public statement and even they arent OBLIGATED to.

Many people still have time to speak if they choose to, but NOBODY is obligated to.Words don't mean much anyway Kathie Lee had to do a segment on his death and she wqs very gracious, but she reallly hated him and she said so way back when he was accused of child molestation. This is fundamentally a time for each person to make a personal choice about how they respond both towards the deceased in reflection and the bereaved by way of sympathy and respect.

Whether an individual decides to respond in public or private is totally immaterial - the focus is on the deceased and bereaved.

I have no wish to be an apologist here. I would simply question the value in passing judgement on others at this time when, for all anyone knows, those others could be spending their time privately making the most respectful and well-intentioned of responses?

I think the fact that Prince (and Stevie) have not made statements is an indication of their deepest respect for Michael and his family at this very difficult time.

The media only encourages disrespect by using his death as a means of obtaining publicity which mean more $, advertisements, yadda....
