Prince borrowed from a dozen sources like Sly and Santana and James. Justin Timberlake borrowed from Prince. So who is really original and who is really the better one? James pulled from somewhere too.

I don't care who borrowed from who. Prince will never be able to touch James Brown on funk, period.

PRINCE!

I have this JB compilation, but I rarely listens to it...

Of course he's great James, but my answer is PRINCE:

I prefer Erotic City to Sex Machine wink

Prince's funk is mixed with rock and pop, I just find it more relevant.

cool

James Brown is ONLY funk so I suppose he wins-but it wouldn't be enough for me.When Prince does funk I find it more sophisticated but I suppose James Brown deserves to win

Idiot? I don't consider myself an idiot lol... why do you need to label people just because they don't share your view?

I am so much more into Prince's funk music than James'... sorry for saying this, but James' music sounds very dated to me - it's old music, more traditional imo.

I have the deepest respect for what James did, but I still love Prince's funk better, razz

Btw... when was the last time you heard James Brown.. ? I have just checked iTunes, 25-December-2008 was the last time for me, more than half a year ago...

I am listening to Prince almost daily. He just means a lot more to me.... maybe because Prince plays a lot of different styles, funk, pop, soul... I find his music a lot more interesting.

I listened to 'In The Jungle Groove' day before yesterday. funny you should say you find it old fashioned funk compared to Prince, listened to 'The Work', '1+1+1=3' or 'Prettyman' lately?
