The Cross or The Ladder:Which One Would You Climb On

This is just like the time I had to decide over yummy buttered fish or lobster tail. I'm actually going to have to sit here and think this out.

The Cross is a song I listen to when I am troubled. It's quiet enough at one point to allow me to address my issues. Then it gets louder with the pounding energy of the beats and guitar. That's like, facing the storm of my problem and working through it. Fighting for courage and faith if you will.

The Ladder is a soothing song that I also listen to when there's a little trouble. Or if I'm sad. It's like a mourning type of gospel song that I wouldn't mind singing in church. (Changing a lyric or two...maybe? Eh. Probably not good to sing this..)

Both of them take me to a personal spiritual place. But since I'm sort of in love with the ATWIAD album, I guess I will have to climb The Ladder...

Even though it feels weird to leave the old cross behind...

gotta go for the cross as its a very easy tune to play on guitar. One of the first Prince songs i learnned to play-and sooooo cool when you hit the distortion pedal. I have heard him do the ladder live-but only on the piano-no band. The first time I saw him at Lovesexy in London in 1988-the one thing I could remember vividly apart from the beginning with the Thunderbird-was The Cross. That song on that tour blew the place apart.

"The Ladder," has such a beautiful, spiritual message as does "The Cross," although I feel that "The Cross," is more of a devotional song...Devoted to Jesus.
