Have U heard this ?uestlove/Foreign Exchange and friends P tribute??

Phonte and Nicolay of Foreign Exchange recently let out this AWESOME tribute they did called "Purple Flip" (You'll know the song they're flipping the second the lyrics hit.)
They let it out as as a way of paying respects to a great legend still living among us.

You can check out the track here:
http://www.nicolaymusic.c...lusive.php

Here's what FE had to say about it:

"We recorded this over a month ago specifically for a ?uestlove tribute party dedicated to The Purple One himself. Other than passing it off to a few DJ friends who vowed to keep it on some secret squirrel, "bet you aint up on THIS!" status, no one has ever heard it. In the wake of the incredible loss we suffered on June 25 however, this joint took on somewhat of a deeper meaning.

We decided to share it with our fans not only as a token of appreciation, but also as a way of paying respect to one of our last living musical geniuses.

Let's not wait until tragedy strikes before we show love and gratitude to our heroes, people. Give them their flowers while they live.

This one's for you, Mr. Nelson. You are loved and appreciated."

Now that's a beautiful thing.

if ever proof were needed that P urgently needs a producer to inject some originality and get the best out P's great ideas then look no further.

Didn't like it.

I like the use of the Linn. And some of the synth lines. But the vocal melody was shize.

Not bad - if you're into "songs" that are completely devoid of melody.
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Good morning all!

Simply beautiful....the idea moreso the song itself. But who am I to criticize this heartfelt tribute?

We really must love those who are still with us. Gonna call an old friend or 2 this weekend, in the spirit of this song.

Very cool! Not just the song, but like mentioned above, for a heartfelt appreciation of living artist in the wake of loosing one.
You never appreciate what you got till its gone.
Thats for sharing

Love it very loving tribute 4rm someone that really appreciate Prince like ?uestlove. Unlike some or most of these so called fans that dissect and tear apart everything Prince does. In the wake of losing one of the best entertainers of all time. We should pay tribute 2 Prince while he still here and stop criticizing him all the time.In other words I HATE PRINCE FANS......
eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Yeah! I notice that when while I was listening 2 it on my computer! LOL! I love it. I think is a cool way 2 pay tribute 2 Prince and introduce a tribute album. I look forward 2 hearing that album, I bet it's gonna be great. They did our boy some justice, I think. Shout outs 2 ?uestlove, u is tha man! U know how 2 bring out some of old classic Mplsound! I think Prince can still do it, himself! Don't get me wrong but, I don't think he understand tha fact that alot of people really miss that classic Mplsound. If he could really bring that back than that would be dope! Foreign Exchange, y'all did that! Good looks.

Well...it is more intended for/or maybe it's cuz it's from a hip hop crowd. More than likely it it's just to contrast the liveliness of the original. He didn't drag on the chorus either. What I appreciate the most is it's a cover done with a different style and not an imitation.

I like it but the male vocals are a little dry. the samples are great though. If Prince did this it would be so utterly hot.

I give it 3 out of 4
