There's joy in Joy In Repetition

Well hello,

I'm a new member who has been a Prince fan since the mid 90s. I was inspired to start my first post having just listened to Joy In Repetition for the first time in several months.

I remember when I first heard this song I found Prince's sudden leap into falsetto in the last few seconds utterly breathtaking, and this has stayed with me ever since. It's a beautiful contrast to the rest of the song and is really quite heavenly - I almost want to say orgasmic. I often play that small segment on repeat.

So I thought I'd start a discussion.

The closing few seconds of Joy In Repetition are Prince's most sublime vocal performance. Discuss.

Nice to meet you all.

Welcome, and I suppose U have inspired me to play this song 2nite...

I certainly agree with the intense appeal Prince has to bring chillz to your being.

The concept of coming back again, especially to re-introduce yourself 2 a lover is compelling.

This very feeling drives my heart. cool

I saw him do it live at Paisley Park around the time Emancipation came out. It was really unexpected since he had all this new material. He also played a lot of stuff from SOTT (Starfish and Coffee, The Cross, The Ballad of Dorothy Parker, If I Was Your Girlfriend, Forever In My Life).
