New material is sh*t??

Anyone else out there think that the new material is lame????

[STOP - HATER HATERS ALERT!! - I really liked SOME of the last ten years out put. So put your flaming guns down.]

Am I the only one out there who can't get into the new music? The only tracks that I think are cool are C&C, CM and ..., that's it. He royally fucked up the other good tracks with the high speed Camille voice nonsense.

I'm dissapointed.

Can't find any gems, at least say on Musicology you had 'reflection', I mean I think that song could have sat happily on SOT.

Anyone else out there think the new albums are lame? Sorry to be negative, this is more of a lonely feeling as most of you are saying this is the best since Lovesexy...and shit like that

I am really enjoying the new material but I don't like C&C. Can't see the purpose of covering old tunes.

The new material is 'spotty'

However:

3121 is on par with Diamonds & Pearls, IMO
TRC (though I do not like the album) is on par with any of his 80s albums, musically.
Lotusflow3r is on par with The Gold Experience.

MPLSound is on par with Controversy ( boxed Hey, yeah... I said it. )

Hell, I even though Rave Un2/In2 were as good as Diamonds & Pearls.

But with prince, you'll never get a clear consensus, even amongst diehard fans, with the very near exceptions of SOTT and 1999. lol

True, not even one A-level song. Just a lot of companion tracks. At least we got this one at a great price (if you weren't suckered into that lotus.com moneygrab). I've accepted that Prince has lost it and it's not coming back. So when it comes to new material I have lowered the bar for him.

The new material is nice lol Prince will never, eva make another 1999, Purple Rain or Sign O the Times, but he has given us some great gems since then-so I do like the new stuff.

i don't care too much for mplsound as an album. i like some individual tracks
but as an album it leaves me quite cold.

now, lotusflower on the other hand, is imo an album that sits happily amongst
his best work. i love all tracks, with the possible exception of "4ever" wich
i find a bit screeching on the chorus, but even that song fits ok within the
sequence of the album.

my only gripe with the lotusflower album is actually not about the album on
it's own but with prince's decision to make 2 versions. the one with C & C,
and the one with The Morning After.

i've chosen to simply file the retail version as the definitive one and put
The Morning After in my "non album tracks" folder. i've tried adding it to
the album in various positions but it just feels off.

it's just a shame that he would cut up his most cohesive album since TRC in
such a stupid way. totally don't understand that.

as for the material on Elixer, i'm already not listening to it anyore. but
that doesn't mean i don't like it. there isn't a single song on there that
i dislike. most of it is just fine and a nice listen. i guess i will return
to it in a while. i'm certainly glad he put it in the package.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Fit the Morning After on lotusflower after C&M. If you're in itunes, change the start time on The Morning after to .3 seconds, and it sound perfectly situated in the album. You'd never know it didn't belong

DISAGREE...I did think that partly with Musicology and 3121 but Lotusflow3r is Prince's best for years with some tracks easily as good as his 80's peaks.

Well the year is half over and I don't know of anything interesting coming out
outside of the Maxwell CD which more than half the music buying population could less about.

I kind of don't see how what P is doing is awful when he really does not have any competition at this point.

I cant stand the Bria album, but what I heard from Lotus Flower I found real good. And MPLSound has some nice tracks like Valentina, Dance 4 me.

I just miss a song that u hear and think ´this is a classic´, like SOTT, Ballad of Dorothy Parker, If I was your Girlfriend, etc.
