how to get lotusflow3r on the radio

this is a very bold move(might be risky)
prince said "we got to take back the radio" well heres the solution...
all who are in her have the lotusflow3r cd in your hands ..so why not download it and send it in to ure local music station, the more you download the cd and mail it to the stations they will be bonbarded and they will have to play it
i know its a far-fetched idea and might not work but think about it

this could b the first time that a web site told radio for once that they want to hear this music..it just might start a complete trend to take back the radio and that listeners are finally heard of what they want in radio

i need feedback on this

Not a good idea. No radio station wants to be sued or shut down with a cease and desist order.

that's not a bad idea. if any of us knows a dj in any city and got them to push a Prince track that would be great. New York is a hard market but other cities are a lot more liberal in regards to airplay.
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Invest the time you would have spent doing this into something to boost your own career wink

this goes beyond what any group of fans can do, prince needs to establish a relationship or better relationships with program directors or hire someone to do so for him, its best not to just reach out to ppl when you need something

whats needed is a killer single any group of people can relate to or at least whatever demographic of the targetted station, "Valentina", etc wont do it

still great albums tho

I respect what you're saying and all. When I turn on the radio and hear "Stanky Leg" and "Blame It On The Alcohol" I began to wonder what demographic the radio is trying to reach and is that truly representative of any city's population.
I'd check a station that played Van Hunt, J'Davey, Sy Smith, Prince, Kudu, and any other number of unsung artists making great music and being told that there is no market for them. MTV guided the face of music into one big booty track with a roster of guest rappers on the remix and radio went and followed suit with their playlists. until they realize that there is a mature audience out there with mature tastes they'll never feel the need to change. Let's face it some of us flew across the country or around the world to see Prince in the past few years. When's the last time you hopped a flight to catch the Soulja Boy Tell 'Em concert?

LOL Good luck with that. Bigger stations like Clear Channel etc, are all computerized. their songs, commercials, station IDs etc are all on a computer. KISS FM here is like that. Even recording a phone call is done on another computer. DJ's RARELY slip in a CD and play a track. Most stations are corporate, not independent.

People need to go to college stations and send them AN ORIGINAL CD, not a copy, and suggest a few songs. WVCR's motto is "We'll Play Anything". However, I'm not thrilled about even trying to get Lotus or MPLsound on the radio. I don't care enough about it.

great points here Honest, best advice to indie artists is to utilize the internet to its fullest capacity, you do that and you dont need the radio, in most cases it will find you. its such a free great marketing tool if you use it properly, still involves maintaining good relationships with folks. reaching out tot hem and creating a great universal relatable/catchy video/song, those marketthemselves, you dont have to do much in this case.

great example of an indie acts youtube success story by creating a great video and song- http://en.wikipedia.org/w...lla_group)

falloff that wasnt mean, I agree, just enjoy the music for what it is, why go out you way with all the extra effort to feed the spending, drugging and party life style of musicians, most wont appreciate the effort anyway and feel entitled to your time and $$$

spend the time and effort into YOU and just enjoy the concert, and CDs for what they are, if Prince wanted to get on the radio he could that isnt our jobs, if you bought the CD you're job is pretty much done

i wrote all this on saturday because im frustrated of why this cd is not heard on the radio.....i know the idea was very out there but there must be a way to get this cd airplay....currently the cd is at 55 on billboard top 200 album chart and desite the fact that he'll be on leno wont really boost the cd.....if eminen can get 600-650 projected first week sales this week on his cd.what do we do to get lotus at least "gold " status?

you already bought the CD you did your job, it will go gold, probably not as fast as Eminem but it will. Plus Eminem's CD has massive distribution, Lotusflower is only at Target, Lotusflower would have already gone gold had it been on itunes as a pre-order and at release date

While this is very well true, there are also radio shows that will play live music from the studio or new album tracks but you have to be a guest & P is usually a no go w/ a lot of that promotional radio, unfortunately.

just fyi:
Lotusflow3r went gold in the first week. (3 discs=a count of 3 toward the gold benchmark) All though sales figure on Billboard reflects each purchase (3 discs=1 sale toward the charts.) Prince is about 9 thousand shy of going platinum.
