Prince:- An anthology

I really wish someone would release a Prince Anthology collection, containing not just the hits, but classic B-sides, unrealeased classics, concert footage, audio and suchlike.

There is so much decent material up to the present day, that by releasing something like this would prove to the general public (not just hardcore fans) how amazing and talented prince really is.

I think that he is still totally underrated by most people who generally start singing 'Purple Rain' when you mention prince.

biggrin Being that Prince owns all of his work from Emancapation to Lotus maybe he should put out a 3 or 4 disc set covering the second phase of his storied career.I think then people would discover that there are great songs that have been put out over the past 15 or so years that have virtually been ignored .Prince can do that if he chose, might even win some old fans back and possibly gain a few new ones.I mean people who hadn't heard Reflection or SHOE would be impressed right?

The Hits/The B-Sides was really a good anthology for its time. What he needs right now is another greatest hits. It covered 15 years, and last year was another 15.

I still think there should be just a Greatest Hits of prince album. SO much good material released under the prince moniker. Ultimate and Very Best were just little money machines. And it wouldn't hurt to throw in a half dozen unreleased tracks again. In a few more years, it'll be time for another Prince greatest hits. He went back to Prince in 2000, so wait until 2015 and do Prince The Hits 2.

Anthology? After he's dead, or WAY old.

I agree. I would really love a best of prince. It would be cool to have the radio edits, extended versions and some rare remixes of some of the songs from that era. Especially "The Hot Experience" that never came out. I would also think he could do a prince video collection. I've read so much about him recording shows at Paisley that it would be really cool to have some of those. Until then, we're stuck with Beautiful Strange and Rave to watch.
