last lewd concert?

Does anybody know which was the last concert when Prince performed some of his more sexual/controversial songs (eg. 'Head') without the lyrics altered?

I would bet Jam of the Year. Face Down was in full on cursing, and he would (jokingly) warn the audience to get the kids outta the room. haha He cursed on Chris Rock's show during "Face Down" as well.

He didn't curse during the 1999 PPV special. Jam of the Year was 1997 I think, so....yeah, right about the time Graham showed up he stopped, circa 1998. Prince relayed a story about how Graham and his family would leave a concert when Prince started cursing too much, missing most of the show. I guess Prince didn't like that, and it stopped there. However, the cursing was still in the music to an extent through 2001. It was about half way through the NPGMC's first year that Prince started editing "P-U-S-S-Y" from "New Position", or had some ridiculous disclaimer before playing "Horny Pony". The JW thing solidified during that year. It's doubtful he even cursed at the Celebration that year during the shows. But I think other artists did.

Yeah, but that doesn't have curse words in it.

"Which concert", not which song. And Prince was still releasing cursed words in songs through part of 2001. Crystal Ball had some. I dont' think Rave did.

You're highly mistaken then. When he did the "sample" segment of the show, and played loops of different songs, even stuff like "Erotic City" or whatever, he never got to the point of using the curse words in the song(s). By the time The Rainbow Children came out, all his cursing had stopped in music and in concert. The AUDIENCE might have continued with a curse word, or chanted "Play that muthafuckin' bass!" but Prince wasn't doing any of that.

Agreed, He gave everyone a few minutes to get the little ones clear. He didn't hold any punches. I saw that one in Layefette, LA.

Well he didn't edit his songs im sure, ie he didnt change the words like he did in the Vegas concerts, pretty sure of that, will need to listen to the recordings to verify. Even when he chanted 'Oooh funky London', he must have realised it sounds like 'ooh...fucking London', he hasn't tamed that much!!

The Xcel concerts followed the 2nd Celebration. The 2000 1st Celebration finale concert was at the much smaller Northrop Auditorium. This had the "almost" Revolution reunion. He did play Days Of Wild at the Northrop show, and he didn't curse during it. During DOW, the crowd started chanting "play that motherfucking bass" and Prince asked them to stop.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

What something SOUNDS like versus what he actually says are two very different issues. It goes back to "Dig if u will a picture, and me, and Marvin Gaye and the kids." ANd why would he says "Ohh, fucking London" anyway?

Prince hasn't cursed in concert since 2001. He even butchers something like "Dance Music Sex Romance" by totally changing up lyrics to the point that it sounds like a theme song from the Disney Channel. When he played an "Erotic City" loop, he'd sing the verse, but he'd never get to the "we can fuck until the dawn...".

You'll certainly be sure that he DID edit his songs, and he's been editing his lyrics since 2001. It's why we'll never hear "Head", "Let's Pretend We're Married", and the like in concert.
